I definitely agree because the metrorail system is virtually useless for those of us beyond Gaithersburg where the last red line stop is located. With the costs of the gas to drive to the Shady Grove station about 10-13 miles away (in rush hour), parking costs at the lot, metro costs and the wait time it takes just to start the trip to where we are going it makes using public transportation a real hassle and almost logistically impossible AND that's NOT even figuring in children and their schedules...the closest thing we have is bus 70 to medical center in Bethesda and now we see the cost is doubling for that ride that has almost no stops..I guess public transportation is great if you are single or only have your own schedule to worry about...once you are dealing with more than yourself public transportation outside of the immediate DC area where everything is close becomes difficult at best. I wish I could ride my bike to work but strapping my child to my back to get them to school (no, they cannot take the bus just yet for those wondering) is not an option and with few bike lanes in this area I'd prefer NOT putting my life in the hands of inattentive and aggressive drivers...I'll save gas other ways...
