Once again they have missed -- or chosen to ignore -- the obvious point. There ARE safe steel plants in Germany, Japan, Korea and elsewhere. The REAL problem is the reliance of the American steel industry on obsolete technology, depreciated assets, breakdown maintenance programs and rundown equipment. Any industry in any nation that follows this course -- and unhappily there are still far too many -- is certain to have similar problems.

What is really unforgivable in this case is that there is no reason for it and no benefit from it. To give up modern technology and progress in general sacrifices corporate profits, product quality, equipment reliability, hands the market to foreign competitors and produces and shameful record on health, safety and the environment. In return a few dirty union goons can go on believing in such stupid ideas as "job killers" and "conspiracy theories" and focus on the only thing those bums are good for....getting drunk.

So once more we have needless deaths and useless sacrifices for a lost cause -- and a worthless one. All for the sake of a few useless old shitholes and some dirty union goons. In short, it's all for nothing -- all for nothing.

There are people laying in hospitals right now who are severely injured Ras. The last thing you need to be doing is calling them union goons and bums. Didn't your mother ever teach you good old fashioned respect? You are worse than what you criticize.

The trouble with that argument is that it was their opposition to modern technology and progress in general that created the entire situation. This is not the first time that this has happened, nor will it be the last no is it any accident. It is however the reason that these dirty union goons deserve no sympathy or respect and why I give consideration to anything these bums want or need. At best, they are simply paying the price for being backward == but they are not content with that. The MonValley has gotten stuck with their check long enough and would be better off without these bums or their useless old shitholes -- and every one that remains is at least one too many

No - the problem with you is that you can't just let this alone while people are in the hospital fighting to get their lives back. You still have to get the "bums and shithole" insult in there just to prove your point. You have no respect for anyone but your pitiful self.

Under the defintion put out by US Steel and the USW you are undoubtedly correct. Unhappily, this latest in their long line of self-inflicted disasters changes absolutely nothing, though it may help divert attention from the root cause. Reliance on obsolete technology, breakdown maintenance, depreciated assets and equipment that belongs on the scrap assure a putrid record for health, safety and the environment on the one hand and consistent failure against competiton on the other.

All this so that these dirty union goons can go on believing that they work for a real company and have real jobs while they live off government life support. All this so they can continue to believe in "job killers" and "conspiracy theories" and think that the production of low-grade slag deserves respect. All this suffering and misery to the general public so they can "live some place nice" and get drunk.

There's your so-called "right direction" according to those bums.
How do you like it?

If I am not mistaken, wasn't it mainly contractors who were injured, not USW employees?

I don't know exactly if it was contractors who were working in the mill that may have caused the accident or not. I am also not sure if all the people who were injured were contractors or if some of them were USX employees. I just think that at this point in time, out of respect to the people who are recovering, it's just best to keep the conversations away from all of the insults.

That makes all the difference in the world. They were not the ones killed or disabled on this particular occasion....but...as on all of the others they created the situation that led to it. Obsolete technology, breakdown maintenance, depreciated assets, equipment that belongs on the scrap heap, "conspiracy theories" and other bolshevist fanatsies -- what in the hell to you expect will happen -- prosperity, safety and good health?

Guess again!

What you mean is that the union should not be held accountable for this ongoing slaughter despite its opposition to progress, modern technology and reliability based maintenance that permits the operation of a clean, safe and profitable steal industry in other nations -- and a clean safe profitable operation of many other american industries. In short, we should respect the union card not only as a badge of honor and mark of special privilege but as a license to kill so long it can be rationalized by some supportting "conspiracy theory" no matter how idiotic!

Once again, the "right direction" according to the USW, has little to do with, how shall I say it? The American Way?

This is why USS/USW should fly a swastika over those useless old shitholes -- along with a skull-and crossbones!

Significantly, no one ever bothers to defend the virtues of obsolete technology, breakdown maintenance, depreciated assets and equipment that belongs of the scrap heap. Nor does anybody bother to explain why progress, modern technology, reliability-based maintenance and other recent innovations are "job killers" or "conspiracies".

Perhaps these bums are simply too ashamed of their views on these issues -- or their devastating impact on the MonValley over the last three decades. Afraid even to talk about it....maybe that's the reason they prefer to just go get drunk.

IT'S EASSIER!!!

As I said there are no words to twist. Those bums are too ashamed even to discuss any of this and they should be. Their peace and privacy is of no concern or interest to me....As for anything YOU want, well, why should I even consider it? The "right direction" for those dirty union goons is of no value to anyone else and their license to kill -- aka, union cards -- carries no special privilege outside of the MonValley.

OH....and have a nice day!

Perhaps those bums should now have the decency to close down those useless old shitholes, consign them to dynamite and the wrecking ball and disband the ir union which, after all, did create this situation.....if only as a simple Act of Atonement to give the rest of the MonValley a chance.

CAN i GET AN "AMEN!" ?

So once more we will continue to rely on obsolete technology, breakdown maintenance, depreciated assets and equipment that even the junkyards don't want. This will continue to assure inferior product quality, numerous equipment outages and the success of foreign competitors on the one hand and a putrid record on health, safety and the environment -- including occasional explosions and a mounting pile of corpses -- on the other.

All this so a few dirty union goons can continue to make believe they have real jobs and work for a real company while they live off government life support. All this so they can continue to pretend to work and US Steel can pretend to pay them. All this so these bums can "live some place nice" and stick others with the check -- while they go get drunk.

Never were more useless sacrifices and needless sufferings laid upon the altar of a cause so hopeless and so worthless. Ask not what these dirty union goons have ever done for you; ask what you can do for their shitholes.

Third time's the charm. This second explosion needs to be a wake up call, but it won't be.

What will it take?

A big gas cloud over the whole valley? We already got that.

What will it take?

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.....Here's why. It's not the second wake up call! This has been going on for thirty years....and this is no accident.

If you rely on obsolete technology, breakdown maintenance, depreciated assets and equipment that belongs on the scrap heap what else do you actually think you will get besides.....

Poor product quality, loss of business to every foreign competitor that decides to enter the market, a permanent economic recession while the rest of the economy goes on to bigger and better things, a putrid record on health safety and the environment, the black lung, heart and lung disease, occasional explosions and a growing pile of corpses.....

That is all USS and the USW have ever offered the MonValley. We could have gotten a better deal from a foreign army of occupation.
Significantly, none of their advocates even bother to defend obsolete technonogy, breakdown maintenance, depreciated assets or worn out equipment -- unless you count their idiotic ideas about "job killers" and "conspiracy theories".....as if a permanent recession is not a murderous job killer!

All this so a few union goons can make believe they have real jobs and work for a real company -- that survives on government life support -- "live some place nice" and have money to get drunk.

What "steel jobs"? The only REAL steelworkers are in Germany, Japan, Korea, China and India. These bums pretend to work for US Steel and US Steel pretends to pay them -- but these are not even real jobs. US Steel is not even a real company -- it exists totally on government life support. The MonValley must continue to bear the burden of the presence and continued existence of these useless old shitholes that US still makes believe are plants, so these dirty union goons can continue to make believe they are steelworkers, "live some place nice" and have money to go get drunk

Imagine there's no cokeworks
It's easy if you try
No smoke below us
Above us cleaner sky
Imagine all the people
Living longer lives

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the cokeworks will be all gone

Beautiful sentiments poetically expressed....but you left out a lot of other REALLY good stuff! Let's get rid of all of US Steel's old dumps -- they can't produce quality steel or make an HONEST dollar anyway. Right off, we will have a better class of people since all of those dirty union goons -- and the dives they support -- will be gone for good.

The economic lockdown will end, modern coal-based industries will flourish overnight and prosperity will return to the MonValley as never before. Steel industry? Well why not. Foreign steel plants with modern technology to supply foreign auto plants -- all on American soil for American workers -- all working in conspiracy free environment with no more dirty union goons!

These periodic explosions and the increasing pile of corpses are no accident nor are they an inherent evil of an essential industry. They are the inevitable result of the reliance of obsolete technology, depreciated assets, failure to conform with any applicable government regulations or industry standards and breakdown maintenance of equipment that belongs on the scrap heap. If you want to talk about "conspiracy theories" let's start with that one -- a conspiracy to commit murder -- for that is what it amounts to!

Maybe that's why those bums won't even talk about it -- they're asserting their 5th Amendment rights.
Of course, they won't even say that -- it would not be "politically correct"......and would come mortally close to an admission of guilt, albeit three decades too late.

So the detonations must continue and the dead bodies continue to pile up. Ask not what those dirty union goons have done to you, ask what you can do for their shitholes.
