Yeah, this was a no brainer but you can be sure the East Side Brotherhood Of Welfarians & their Ho Auxiliary will be protesting & playing the race card about razing the bridge......Guaranteed!

The doubt the City paid more than 5% of the study amount, the same as the portion of allocated costs to whatever was recommended. The federal and state agencies required the study and the public hearing on it in order to provide their 95% of the funds.

OK,if this is the case, does anyone wonder why Pa. is in the hole?

How many streets would that money have paved, or blighted houses knocked down?

Stupid beyond words.

What is Father Jerry (patron saint of viaducts) going to do with his time now?

Hey, here's an idea: tend to the spiritual needs of your parishioners. And maybe lay off the pasta sandwiches.

where was mayor Sinnott through this whole issue? The guy is always missing in action, never any leadership from the guy, ya gotta wonder what he wants the job for if he doesn't have the balls to deal with the issues.
Wonder what he wants the project to accomplish?
Sinnott should also lay off the pasta sandwiches.

Don't be upset with L.R. Kimball and Ass., they were merely following directions from Mayor Joe Sinnott, everyone on the East side of Erie knew for the last three years that the mayor wanted that bridge closed, the question should be why did the mayor allow an out of town company come in and shyster the taxpayers out of $799K?
he never goes on the east side of Erie, he doesn't have a clue what the needs are on the east side of town or the west side of town for that matter.

What a bunch of selfish clowns all of you are.
Do you know how hard it is for a troll to find a bridge to live under?
I've got to find a new place to live and all you can do is worry about wasted taxpayer dollars.

Instead of taking federal money for bump outs on state street and a multimillion dollar park and ride on the bayfront, why didn't the mayor sink some of that federal cash into fixing the bridge? If he was able to convince the feds that the bump outs were a good idea and were needed, the bridge should have been a no-brainer.
You can bash the bridge all you want, but the bridge serves a useful purpose to the citizens of Erie who live in the area. It's easy to dismiss the idea of fixing it up when you live miles away from it and never benefit from the convenience it provides.
If the "mayor's ride" during the roar on the shore went over that bridge, I guarantee he'd be fixing it up......oh wait a minute, the mayor's ride doesn't even take place in the city of Erie. Maybe we should ask Millcreek township to hold their fourth of July parade on Erie's east side next year. Maybe then somebody would care about the bridge.

You can bet that if the Parade Of Bikes for Roar On The Shore utilized the McBride Viaduct for their entrance into the city, the bridge would be being repaired or replaced as we speak with the Mayors blessing!!!!!!!!!!

O.K. How about if we rebuild the bridge by raising taxes? We can start with all the business' in the area ponying up their fair share because heaven knows, they're making a killing.

Tear the thing down.
