GOOD FOR the Village. Departments all over the country are consolidating when and where it makes sense. If you have quality leadership you can do these things, Joe Public will never know the difference. Nice work Mayor !

Really?! Are you ignorant enough to think that this was not a 100% political move? You're going to drink the koolaide and believe that this was really about the budget??? You must really know this mayor!!!

What exactly is the political motivation a mayor or village might have to not want to save taxpayers money ? what would they stand to gain politically? Police and Fire depts are using Public Safety directors and departments town to town are in fact combining resources because of budget constraints. Its my tax dollars and I want to see them spent in the most efficient ways possible.

It's "your tax dollars" and you are claiming that this towns mayor does anything, let alone can a dept head, without political motivation? Time to open your eyes bub!

Politics by nature is the allocation and expenditure of political capital to accomplish ones goals. If the goal is to stream-line city services then the Mayor is wise in expending some of his political capital to achieve the aforementioned operation. He gets an A for reducing the overhead where and when it makes sense. Oh, as for the tax dollars, unless you are living off the government you do pay taxes for the operation of whatever city/village/ cave you may live in.

Congrats on being able to keep your head buried in the sand! Wish I was as ignorant as you. My tax dollars are unfortunately being managed by this mayor. If "the goal is to stream-line city services", there are so many other ways to save. Not removing the head of a very busy and very important service. Removing one salary to increase another? Not too much of a savings there.

My head is high above the sand and constantly holding vigil. If you know so much Offer up your solutions oh budget minded efficiency expert. The village has made numerous cuts in lots of departments including well over 100 jobs the past 3-4 years. PUBLIC SAFETY departments are springing Up all over the country. Having one Director is the norm. Get with the program this is not your mom and dads (whos' basement you may well be living in) way of city management anymore. Sorry you can't get a ride on the big red truck any more.
The economy is in the tank, Unemployment in Illinois is 9+% sponsored By Democratic Gov Pat Quinn and perpetuated by 1600 Pennsylvania ave Resident Obama. So what was your point again ? Oh yes the salary differential I am guessing that is someplace around $100K-130k savings for one job. Feel free to stand on a corner and pass the boot around for the chief but I am guessing he will be fine in retirement or whatever he chooses.

If the village wants to save money we should sell the golf course and Clow airport before we lose our fire chief. Better managed villages don't feel they need to operate golf courses and airports to best serve the citizens the represent, but they do manage to find a way to pay their fire chief.

The golf course and the airport benefit a select minority of the Bolingbrook population, but a experienced, professional fire chief benefits everyone in the community. Once again the mayor and our village board have shown that the general welfare of the citizens is the last thing on their agenda.

Sucks to be you! Sitting there, in retirement, so pissed at your lack of success and/or your failure to "climb the ladder" just trolling message boards spewing your dillusional, warped view of the world.

By the way, I think break time is over! You need to get your Statue of Liberty outfit back on and spin that sign in front of Liberty Tax. They are losing business every second you're not out there! HURRY!

After your shift, feel free go back on "patrol". Oh and when there is another Fire Chief put into place, you can look back and remember that the only reason they fired him in the first place was because of "stream-lining city services" and NOT AT ALL because of politics. It certainly is not because that chief and the mayor are best buddies (oh shit, THEY'RE NOT)!!! The mayor would NEVER get rid of someone because he doesn't like them! NEVER!!

I am quite happy and live very comfortable Thanks for your concern. LOL.. As for the poor guys that have to dress up for a few bucks to make ends meet I feel for them, But its not my role to find employment for them either. I do my fair share of charity work and donate to various causes too. What about you? As for the mayor streamlining city government , You think that the chiefs don't know politics? Don't be that naive get YOUR head out of the sand. They did not get to there positions without stepping on a few toes and playing the game too.
