As a resident of that area, I can only say that it "appears" to be an arson. There are many teenagers that are out at that hour of the night/morning. It makes me support a "Youth Curfew" that much more. While there is no proof (yet) that it was a fire set by kids, it does make you stop and think.

If they ARE kids, where are the parejnts?

Unfortunately kids have been chased out of those woods numerous times and actually many years ago, there were kids who were caught in the act of trying to burn this structure.
If anything it is probably more rich Williamsville kids... but why would you hang on someone’s misspelling like that and miss the point of John's comments?
The sad point is that Williamsville lost a part of its history ~ other buildings that are left like the Old Red Mill should be taken better care of. This was run down and neglected which made it vulnerable for something like this.

It AMAZES me that you miss the point for a TYPO!

You exemplify the typical ignorant idiot in this area.

Good Work, loser.

(PS: Also...did I say WORD #1 about race, color, religion, etc?! Being from Orchard Park, you're undoubtedly a Republican...and we all know how THEY can twist the subject around to their needs. Been reading the Karl Rove playbook lately?)

I grew up in the area, and now live in the area. Like another poster has said, as a teenager we would hang out in that area. There is an old rope swing back there. We used to hang and have some beers. We'd always get chased out by the police. It was innocent fun.

It's really said to see that this barn was destroyed. I too believe it was an act of arson. Either vandalism or somebody who wanted that barn destroyed because it sits on a very valuable and underdeveloped piece of land.

How sad. Unfortunately, the Historical Society for Amherst/Wmsv. did not focus attention on this (now) lost landmark. It needed attention - structural and painting. What a loss to the area. Hopefully, this is will get the attention of interested parties to take care of our landmarks.

The Old Red Mill was falling down
And no one cared in the town--
Now it will forever be lost,
And never rebuilt because of the cost!
You really should take better care of your stuff,
Because replacing it really can be rough!

Spoken like a true moron. But if it were the Meth Lab that you buy your junk from, or the brothel that the female members of your family are employed by, then it would be altogether different.
Grow up tool.

it sucks that people had to burn that barn down, theres really no reason for it. im only 21 and i remember riding my bike down that path when i was younger goin to the glen to fish and what not. people should really focus on the preservation of the few landmarks that exist
