Under the proposed legislation, conversations between the governor and local government boards could be held behind closed doors. The bill awaits Gov. Jerry Brown's signature.

At a closed-door meeting, Brown and the La County supervisors discussed his controversial plan, dubbed "realignment," to begin holding nonviolent felons and certain other low-level offenders in county jails rather than send them to state lockups. The plan followed federal court orders to reduce prison crowding.

The proposal drew criticism from open-government advocates, including state Sens. Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) and Ted Gaines (R-Rocklin), who say it would shut the public out of important public safety discussions.

"If we start allowing for exceptions, it could be used to justify the concealment of information on anything from disaster preparedness to realignment," Yee said after voting with Gaines and another lawmaker against the bill.

If the governor signs the legislation, it will mean "he knew … the meeting was illegal" when he spoke behind closed doors with the supervisors in 2011, said Terry Francke, general counsel for the open-government advocacy group Californians Aware
.
This is how they correct violations of the Brown Act when they're caught in the act: They change the law so it will give them cover in the future.

I was just about to ask you about that too?

Did the L.A. County supervisors know this was illegal also? and did they attend anyway?
Dangerous Oversight

A fly on the wall reports they may have consulated with a state Sen.

Sen. Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina) told his colleagues Monday that "it adds the governor to a list of public officials who can meet in closed session with local officials."

"This is a dangerous oversight when onfidentiality in matters of public safety is needed," he said.

Glad to hear that thee will be NO halting of Public Records Request by state law, that has been rescinded.

Glendora, California like Bell, California is deep in to it's crooked dealings.

Journalists use the CPRA to uncover official malfeasance. The Los Angeles Times employed it, for example, to ferret out the outrageous self-dealing in the small city of Bell, resulting in criminal trials.

Yep!

A all-white encampment or prison less than an hour from South Africa’s capital has been fighting to stay all-white with a segregated life style.

This of course was the norm for the country before Nelson Mandela toppled the apartheid (racists)regime.

Several local cities in the SGV have tried this too, that's why they are called "gated Communities"..
