Claremont PD comes to the rescue again this time helping out the CHP. They are always there to help out and keep us safe. The City made a great choice in making Paul Cooper their Chief. Also, Captain Gary Jenkins keeps the patrol officers in top notch condition to handle situation like this. I am greatful to live in a City with such fine police officers.

Nothing he did was a crime - he was acting because he felt his family was threatened. Appropriate force was used too; if he had shot the guy or beat him to death with a baseball bat, maybe you'd have a point, but he just used his bare hands. Lester was well within his rights.

Cartwheel, if Lester feared for his or his family's life, he could have used deadly force and been well within his rights. The guy was trying to break into his house.

Where does it say that he was a gangster? What, just because he's been in prison before automaticly makes him a gangster? I agree that it was good that he was caught, and I dont deny that how he was caught wasn't cool, but you are just a narrow minded idiot.

Hey everyone, thanks for the well wishes. I don't have any ill will towards the guy - I don't think he was trying to get into the house to hurt anyone, but was just desperate to find a place to hide.

I hope he is provided with a chance to turn his life around. Sadly, with the state of our prisons I don't think that is going to happen. What Acosta needs is job training and to be placed into some kind of addiction recovery program, not to spend 8 years in prison and then go back as soon as he is released.

After searching for poways wrestling schedule I stumbled upon this article. I see that this story happens to be two years old but could not resist commenting since I too, wrestled for claremont and graduated in 99. At first I immed. Thought this story was in reference to anthony gomez who graduated in 97. I do recall in the recent past that he has been known to live near the village?? Anyway gomez took 8th in state his senior year and taught me a lot. So, I could picture him doing this too. I, as well, will take the liberty to say I used my wrestling skills to take down a few bad apples in claremont and upland for that matter. Just never to the point claremont police had to be called. The great thing is I have been accepted to the police academy. Great job on behalf of the claremont wrestling coaches in teaching this young man that he has the skills to use in a real life situation. Not much to say for claremont pd. Even at this age... just kidding.... good work officers
