A true friend will stop a friend from drinking and driving. Take away their keys, call the police, force them to get help. Stop them when they have had enough! They never caught the guy that ran my father off the road 25 years ago but I always assumed he must have been drunk or something. 25 years later my mother is killed in a similar way. I never went out of control, I never caused harm to someone else because of my grief. I never drove drunk. You want to be a good friend, do something for the children that are victims of this tragedy on both sides or donate to MADD, you have no idea how much they do to help people. If you have a friend with a drinking problem, keep them off the road even if it means they get mad at you!!!

Ridiculous to bash a man I know nothing about? All I need to know is this scum was a father of two who wasn't responsible and a killer with no conscience. Maybe he would have straightened out his life if he had people that didn't make excuses for him and made him look at the cold hard truth. SO YOU ARE IRRITATED!?! Lucky you. I bet every person who knew Toni would prefer to feel irritated than pain from her absense. I can't believe you. I am baffled by your ignorance. For you to infer that everyone has driven drunk is stupid. Probably every person you associate with has driven drunk and that's why it is acceptable to you. You keep poor company and that would explain the lack of logic and intelligence you exhibit with your ridiculous comments and beliefs. Have you ever heard the saying, "Show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are"? Obviously, you and those you defend are people the world would be a better place without.

Yes Steven made mistakes and unfortunately it cost 2 innocent lives. But its ridiculous that people are on here bashing a man they know nothing about. His kids do need him and him having 2 kids at 23 has nothing to do with it. I guarantee you that everyone on here has driven drunk or will drive drunk or under the influence once in there life time but were fortunate enough not to have gotten caught or in an accident. We need to stop judging people and help our loved ones that are suffering and dealing with this situation.

yesterday was Toni's birthday. Her daughter was a mess all day. Her granddaughter was hysterical all day. She doesn't understand why Toni can't come back. Her husband had to relive his ordeal to an attorney yesterday and found out more gruesome facts, that fortunately his mind had blocked from him. So he relived the ordeal again.

We now know Steven wasn't a good father. We now know that when the police officer on the scene asked him why he ran, he got an attitude and said "CUZ THAT'S WHAT I DO" We now know his poor mom tried everything she knew how to straighten him up and he just didn't give a d#@n. He didn't care about his mom, he didn't care about his kids, he didn't care about anything...

Please know that everyone who worked with Toni, and the kids she taught miss her and talk about her all the time. We all greet each other with "Good morning sunshine"...because that was how Toni always greeted all of us. Please let us know what we can do to help. What a terrible loss for everyone!

Steven was a awsome person when I knew him and played ball with him. And all your opinions dont fuckin matter! Whats done is done. Knowing the way our system is he will do 5 to 10 years with half time.. And thats that. My prayers go out to both familys and everyone else get over it.

"Everyone else get over it" Wow, I wish we could, but when you get a call from the DA's office every few months saying it's been continued again and when you get told that Steven didn't have enough insurance to cover your families funerals;and when you have a 13 year old niece running out of class hysterical because today is the day they make the students watch drunk driving crashes in class an noone bothered to warn her so she could stay home that day; And when that same little girl wakes up screaming because she dreamed it all again, And when your brother is struggling just to make ends meet because of the loss of income of his wife because he's trying to keep his daughter in the same school with her same friends rather than sale his home and move somewhere cheaper. It's really hard to get over it. I talked to my mom 5 times a week when she was alive. Now I have noone I can do that with. I wish everyone else could get over it too. But sadly I don't know if we ever will.

really?!?! that is the DUMBEST thing i've ever read!!!! yea he has 2 kids but what about the 12 yr old girl who lost her mom and grandmother? She'll NEVER see them again! And she had to see them die right in front her eyes! And what kind of example would it be for his kids? That you can be dumb enough to drive drunk and kill 2 people and not be punished?! You're an idiot!!

steven is a friend of mind that i grew up with as a kid..i have knowed him my whole life. he's not a killer. he has two kids of his owned, and has made one of the biggest mistakes of his life by this "ACCIDENT." but tell me this. its ok for a PRO football player to drink and drive and kill a couple of people in an accident and serve 28 days in jail and to be put on house arriest for 2 years because he was a role model for kids. and then they pay off the victims family cause they have the money to do that.. so how can you want a young person like steven be but behind bars for the rest of his life.. hes a young man with 2 little boys. he knows what he did and to the webb family i'm truly sorry for your lost. but why put a kid behind bars for the rest of his life to make your selves feel better.. why make his kids grow up without a dad. dont put a good man down for one mistake.

He obviously wasn't an "awesome" person if he's dumb enough to drive drunk...and get caught 3 times! And our opinions do f*ckin matter when we're the ones who get affected by it!! Your dumb opinion is what doesn't matter because you "knew" him but you obviously don't know who he is now or you would have known he had a problem and gotten him help!

Sorry for the families lost. I also know Steven Chavez he's a good guy just made Very poor choices again and again. He's an alcoholic seriously needs help. If he's not on the bottle he's hitting the pipe. Take it from me he's gonna get what's coming!

no one knows why God allows bad things to happen. But we see and know it happens. Life has to go on. we have to move forward. My heart goes out to the Webb family and the Chavez family. but we gotta put it in Gods hands. only he can make it all better.

I get where everyone is coming from but to the people that say his kids are better off without him you don't even know them to say what's good for them, yes Steven made a bad decision and should be punished and lets hope he learns from his mistakes.

Just because he has 2 kids doesnt justify the fact that he killed someone driving drunk and he had 2 prior drunk driving charges. What's it take. Someone to die. Apparently......he made his choices......now he should live with it!!!!!! I hope they do lock him up for awhile...perhaps forever....nice role model he is to his two kids...loserrrrrrrrr
