My dog and cat are caught up on all of their shots and are indoor animals who have ID badges on their collars. Why should I have to pay a license fee?

Right, I shouldn't....so I don't.

I had a run in with some of these Crap heads in La Habra. 2 young punks, about 19 years old wearing some type of uniform with a cheap badge, carrying batons and choke poles.
1 demanded to know if I owned a dog or knew of any of my neighbors who did! With his attitude and the fact he was on my property and that I do not own a dog I told him to take a hike. Not in so nice as those words. LOL
La Habra sucks!

few yrs ago- I had my german shepherd- licensed- and was an indoor dog- except when we played in backyard.
My brother was deployed to the middle east- and eventually his wife was too--- I drove to FLORIDA to pick up his German Shepherd. Drove him back.
They just happened to come by and saw the 2 happy German Shepherds playing in the backyard.
He had Florida tags and shots etc... I told him the dog was from FL- his owners were in the military and had been deployed-had tags and shots-
They didnt care- they wanted LA county tags...
In the end- I got him tags.
I eventually drove him back to FL.

it just about making money. most pets get all there shots when they are pups. all you should have to do is pay a license fee once to prove your dog has had all its shots. after that there should be no yearly fee..

my dog and cat have been dead for two years now and they still send a bill, I have checked the box that says this pet has died but they still send a bill. How does taking your dog away from the owner make things better, the shelter will put down the animal, so who is the bad guy. Maybe the shelter should downsize employees like every other job.

First of all Father Joe is crazy. Second of all, if I dont want to register my dog, I shouldn't have to. Third, its all about money, they could care less about the animals because if they did, they wouldn't threaten to take the animal away (we all know what happens to them at the pound). And finally, catch me if you can! HA~

Filthy animals, must be the michael vick branch of the humane society. Don't let them on your property, group together and get an attorney.

The story speaks of only having dogs licensed, but others on here are bringing up cats too. You have to license a cat in the city of San Dimas?

It is an LA County law that when you take your mutt out into the public, it MUST have a license and leash. Break the law, and you pay the fine. It's not rocket science.

And by the way, dogs are NOT allowed in Kuns Park in La Verne, can't u ppl read? There is a sign right near the bathroom.

It's all about money. I had my son's dog who lived in Berkeley for 4 years. They wanted to back bill me hundreds of dollars because I didn't have proof that the dog was up north that whole time. What did they want? A Cal diploma??

It is all mixed up. The people looking for the unlicensed dogs are outside contractors working for the agency for the most part. They are paid a percentage of what they either report as unlicensed, or collect for the unlicensed dogs. And you are right about taking the dog from some lonely man or woman that can't afford something as simple as a renewal and the agency ends up with the cost of housing the animal and putting it down. What senselessness. On top of that, the loss of a pet that may have been the most important thing to some elderly person will send them over the top and they will become a burden as a result.

It sucks. There is no more common sense. We have become a slave to the computer and numbers only. It makes Leonardo da Vinci want to turn over in his crutsy grave. Reasoning and extrapolating are things of the past.

Besides that, why are cats allowed to do whatever they want.

I think im going to get a dog and not pay the license just to be defiant. I don't even want a dog either. It's the "principality" of the issue.

If you care about your animals, you will make sure they are updated on the shots, as my animals are. I receive notices from my vet when checkups and shots are due. I do not need any animal control person telling me what I need to do, I wear big girl pants now. My animals do not wear collars, they can be a choke hazard, even my horse goes naked. So a license would not do me any good, as it would never be on the animal. As far as crazy animal control people go, you should see what they do in Glendora. I had one threaten my neighbor with jail time if HE failed to take MY cat to the vet! So watch out, you may be held legally responsible for ANY animal in your neighborhood!
