the entire process was a joke. The commission should represent a variety of local citizens as well as elected officials. I'm waiting to see the final results I hope the commission is a mix and not just elected or appointed officials because then that would be a problem for our citizens

People still want the independent commission. However the biggest failure from the Democratic Party was their desire to nuke the independent redistricting commission.
1. Proportional representation based on party registration as of the date of when the census numbers get announced.
2. Also most of the people in the commission are basically upper income people, there is barely any working class folk :P
3. Maybe we should have a redistricting simulator and maybe have regular people just do it on their own and just submit the plans to the commission. I think I could redistrict the congress, the state assembly, state senate, board of equalization with no problems.
If we do not like how this commission works, then we can always make a ballot measure to make it better for Census 2020.

The people on this commission make $300 a day plus expenses. Nice work if you can get it
