More infringment on freedom in the Peoples' Republic of Clarement.

What's the point of banning smoking if those ordinances are not enforced anyway. I see people smoking in the parks and in areas where it is banned. Police don't bother to enforce it, the park rangers are not there regularly enough to do so. So, what's the point?

the point being that Claremont insists on being the most pretentious, "our hybrids get better gas mileage than you car", type of city around. Obviously, there are no practical ways to enforce these "laws". Simply demonstrating their holier-than-thou methods, which probably make most of the citizens there happy, are enough for their egos.

I don't go to La Verne anymore because of their smoking ban , I guess Claremont is next on my list, after 41 years of supporting the city !!!!!!!!!!
Vietnam Vet, when the Gov't. issued us CIGS!!!!!!!!!!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it..........

I am a Vietnam Vet, too. I used to buy cigs when we were out to sea, but when they went up to $1.00 a pack, I decided I could use my money for better things. I am a Claremont citizen and applaud the City Council for thinking about this. If people want to smoke, they can do it in their car or in the privacy of their home. I don't want to get cancer as a result of second-hand smoke. Besides, at about $5.00 a pack, now, can't you think of better things to do with your money? You survived Vietnam, I would hate to see you succumb to cancer.

God bless you for your service.
You and your brothers (past, present, and future) fought and sacrificed to preserve liberty above all.
Our liberty is threatened by radical health, environment, economic, and social "progressives." Democrats support the inaptly-named "progressive" (nee Socialist) movement. Too many Republicans are complicit thru silence or inaction.
These laws represent the death of freedom by a thousand cuts and should disturb any thoughtful person to oppose "progressive" Democrats.
