None of this makes any sense. Clearly Chuck hasn't watched any of the Clinton interviews or the Nixon "I'm not a crook!" files. It is evident he has done some things that no supervisor who has had any amount training would countainance. Even if he is not guilty, which I doubt, he is not smart enough for the position as Commissioner

Commish Kopp-a-feel called a press conference and was righteously indignant in saying, "I'm not a sexual harasser"..."...sure I hugged a fellow employee a few times, but I never kissed her" "and there was no witness." So basically, he is admitting that he did it, but in the same breath is saying he is not the definition of the term for doing such things.
Unbelievable!

Commissioner Kopp has given a carefully worded statement to appear truthfull in his denial, but wanting or desiring a romantic or sexual relationship is not a necessary element of sexual harassment. Reminds me of President Clinton. He may be telling the truth about his romantic inclinations towards the complainant, but he fails to directly address the harassment complaint. When I see that type of answer, I feel strongly that the person is guilty of the offense alleged. Govenor Palin is doing the same thing with her reasons given for firing Monegan. The state deserves better leadership.

In his interview/press conference didn't Kopp state that he has known the victim/complainant since High School?
Didn't the victim/complainant state that she met him when she started work at the KPD?
Should be pretty easy to ascertain who is telling the truth.
I don't like what I'm hearing so far in the legalistic way Mr. Kopp puts things.

Let me inform the uninformed Ak shooter,Daniel Boone,Akdiehard, Pop-Pop and speedhump. What Mr. Kopp has said is true. The person this happened with was a longtime family friend - no relationship existed. With the desire of the press to make a story out of nothing and peoples willingness to believe that a person is guilty because the press said it...... we have a very good person being harassed by the media and uninformed people making assumptions. For all the people making the ridiculous leap of associating this with Clinton is absolutely absurd. Clinton had no regard for the office of the president and had multiple sexual relationships in the White House. And while people can accept this and claim he did a good job as president, a person that gave a hug to a family friend gets drug down to the level of Clintons moral disregard for America.
Ridiculous. Get a clue Alaska. Kopp will do a great job as commissioner.

The investigation done on Chief Kopp was internal. Normally, investigations of this severity would be done by a disinterested third party (Alaska State Troopers or Soldotna PD). This is common practice among police departments in the area. This of course was not done (the results would of been damaging, even if the Chief was found innocent). Whom among city of Kenai employees are going to find fault with an individual that is loved by most of the community, is both the Chief of Police and CITY MANAGER, and has the city council in his back pocket. No one, it would be a career ender. The fact that the investigation was done 'internally' raises a lot of eyebrows.

Concerned Citizen: There were witnesses. The Chief was flagrant is his displays of affection with the secretary prior to the one who blew the whistle on him. Again, most will not come forward because it would be a career suicide. This man has POWERFUL friends that will not believe that Chuck is a womanizer.

Good grief! I'm hoping this isn't a career ender for Chuck Kopp. To most he remains a top citizen on the peninsula. Whole issue reminds me of the false accusations made against Kenai Judge David Landry that ended his career.
