Clairton and TJ. TJ is the only district around financially viable and educationally sound to be able to take on Clairton's kids. The other school districts couldn't do it. Start the merger NOW!!!!

Only one trouble.....why should the rich relative save the poor relation? Especially if to save the poor relation from drowning, he is likely to drown himself, too.

I have to agree with Rasputin on this one. As much as I believe TJ could handle the kids, its too big of a burden for the school district to take on by themselves. A second party school would have to front some support, just like East Alleghany and West Mifflin had to for Duquesne students.

Also, TJ has already turned their noses up to a merger with Clairton. The only two schools that haven't responded to Clairton's merger letter has been EF and West Mifflin.

West Mifflin is the wild card of those two. How could that school district handle another influx of student, especially students from two school districts that have a deep routed hatred for one another?

See, whatever way you turn, you've got the same story. The hard reality is we really have nothing to offer the other districts -- nothing that they can't get just as well without us.

I still feel an alternative tax plan is the best option. The fact that schools are traditionally funded by property taxes really is not much of an argument. What good are traditional means if they do not work and have not worked for some time? Why should home-owners get stuck with the check for a few bums who "prefer to live some place nice". Other cities, towns and counties have occupation privilege and income taxes in place -- so why should our district go hungry for the sake of some politically sacred cow. Butcher it and let people eat!

Maintain the current Clairton District infrastructure. All Clairton faculty and administration hit the bricks. TJ hires and runs the facility as it sees fit with the current funds the district is receiving. The only solution is to put Team Loser out to pasture and remove the current elected leader debacle. There is a clearly established record of gross incompetence with the system that input is definitely not required. It would be like letting the inmates run the asylum. Clairton might have a say but a very limited one at that.

The Council and School Board lack the intestinal fortitude to press US Steel. From my understanding they collect much less than $300K from our friendly neighborhood unionized (on the behalf of the greater state) Coke Works. Time to re-negotiate terms of the financial arrangement...OBTW if you work for them now I throw the conflict of interest flag unless you can clearly separate your duties as employee from your duties as an elected representative. That is how it works in most of the country.

There is not another city along the Mon, Ohio, or Mississippi that wants a Coke works....if played right, the City has US Steel by the short hairs. Sometimes activist tree huggers serve a great purpose at the bargaining table.

On a separate note: the school district needs dismantled yesterday...decades of failure is inexcusable.

All i know is that other cities and towns have successfully established occupation privilege taxes, local income taxes, corporate production and sales taxes. Significantly, no one here has challenged the merits of these proposals.

You make another pivotal point. Not only does no other city want those useless old shitholes -- which only produce garbage and can't make any money anyhow -- but they are also hopelessly out of conformance with every applicable government regulation and industry standard. Under these circumstances, the relocation of such a facility, employing obsolete technology and equipment simply would never be allowed.

Let us, however, just for the sake of argument consider the shutdown scenario. It's really not much of an argument. The background pollution generated by these useless old shitholes is so excessive that MODERN coal-based industries -- the only kind worth having -- cannot even apply for an operating license or a construction permit! Think about that industries that can operate cleanly, safely and at a profit are banned to allow these old shitholes to produce garbage, lose money and kill people -- and do so inviolation of federal law on government life support. This is like putting the victims or innocent bystanders in jail so that capital murderers with repeat offenses can run the streets!

There is your REAL system of justice in the MonValley -- how do you like it.

No consider the case where these old shitholes are consigned to dynamite and the wrecking ball. Pollution drops, MODERN industries, including a state-of-the-art steel industry, will be free to move in and will undoubtedly do so. These will fluorish ending the the thirty year recession that the region has no needlessly endured for these filthy union goons overnight. With any luck at all, these new industries will be non-unionized so we will also have a much better class of people than these shithole bums.

Let them go and drink themselves to death -- that's all they are good for. after thirty years of carrying that millstone around their collective neck, it really is time for the whole MonValley to FINALLY move on!

Here is the incompetence -- letting too manyy people slide on too many things for too long.....and coming up with excuses to let them slide. Bring all of that to an end and your problems go away. Make any exceptions to this and you just guarantee more of the same. In the end it really is that hard and that simple.

Perhaps you are the victims of your own misplaced compassion and indulgence. You have let too many people slide on too many things for too long. Now you hope that through these mergers or some other elaborate ruse you can avoid being paying the penalty or at least get someone else to share the expense. The logical group to do that is not another school district, but these people you keep letting slide because "they prefer to live some place nice". they certainly have the right to do so -- but there is no reason why anyone else should take up their tax slack to help them do it.

i think the name of the new school district once the state forces the merger issue between tj and clairton should still be clairton. maybe keep the jaguars mascot, but since tj was once part of clairton, keep the clairton name.

clairton jaguars. sounds really good.

Get rid of those useless old shithole and those filthy shithole bum and you will get profitable industries and a better class of people. This will also get rid of the racist element since most of those filthy shithole bums are bigots too

doesnt matter what the rich white people want. W Mifflin=broke. EForward=broke. S Allegheny=broke.

do the math. if WM+EF+SA=broke and TJ=money+good test scores, where do you think the state will send them in 2012-2013 when they finally deal with this issue?

Quit letting those filthy shithole bums and their deadbeat employers slide every time they make a lame excuse -- and you'll have plenty of money. Keep letting them slide and you'll get what you deserve for doing so.

Ask not what those filthy shithole bums ever did for you....ask what you can do for their useless old shitholes

Well, some kind of merger or reconsolidation to Clairton is going to happen now that I just found out the new Superintendant name: Killmayer.

If you need a reminder, this is the same man who was at Duquesne when they announced their kids where going to West Mifflin and East Alleghany.

Killmeyer is the killjoy for Clairton High School.

Now that you've proven once again that the monValley will indeed be a much better place when all of you shithole bums are dead and gone. Please explain why you shithole bums should not support the school districts with occupation privilege taxes and with income taxes. Please also explain why the garbage production and garbage sales volumes of your deadbeat employers should not also be taxed.
While your at it, explain why the people of the MonValley, the people who actually matter should take up your tax slack on either count because some filthy shithole bums like you "prefer to live some place nice"

On second thought, don't bother. As you have already shown many times, the views and opinion of you filthy shithole bums are are as worthless as the garbage that comes out of your shitholes -- or goes into it at the start of every shift.

It's the same old story -- special privilege for a filthy shithole bum who has a union card, calls himself a "steelworker", but is only good for one thing in life -- GETTING DRUNK

This is a prime example of these bums you keep letting slide. Do you actual think they are worth it? If you do, the merger(s) are just another band-aid on a broken artery. The REAL problem are these filthy shithole bums "prefer to live some place nice" and let you take up you up their tax slack.

What about the Wilson section going to South Allegheny since it's right across the bridge and the rest of Clairton go to TJ since most of Worthington is already Thomas Jefferson School district.
