Just wondering, has any Clairton City Council members ever served in the Military, Memorial Hill is a DISGRACE! Why is a 87 year old MAN up there trying to clean it up and put back in order, it was a show piece of county at one time, the members of council should be ashamed of its condition, I feel sorry for the family members who had their loved ones killed in war, from the City of Clairton. Asking all people of Clairton to visit Memorial Hill, and make your observation. The American Legion is trying to do something in purchasing new markers.

Yes Memorial Hill is a mess and so is the whole City of Clairton. Council doesn't care if they did they need to get off of there asses and do something about it, everybody depends of the American Legion to do everything. Its sad to have an 87 year old man trying to clean it up.THIS CITY IF PITTYFUL JUST LIKE THE ONES WHOLE RUN THE CITY.

John and others: In March, I drove to the Memorial Hill and the paths were completely blocked by fallen, dead trees. I felt really bad. Somehow, a small group of us got together and are working to clean the place up. We will be there on Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. if anyone wants to join us. Bring your own shovels, rakes, and other tools to help up remove years of neglect and prepare to plant.

Maybe it's time to move on. The city should cut all the trees down up there because it is a safety concern. It isn't 1920 anymore. That area is a secluded out of the way part of the city. There's a new memorial in front of city hall. Time to pull up the markers and take down the trees. You can clean up it all you want - it will just fall into disrepair again.

A little bit of history, before the American Legion Post #75 signed off on the new memorial in front of city hall, it was agreed by the city (Ralph)at the time, that Memorial Day Services would be alternated each year City Hall Memorial, then Clairton Park Memorial Hill, it NEVER happen.
Clairton Park Memorial Hill, you would think, that a American Flag would be flying, this is wrong and a slap to the families who's loved one where once honored there!

It is so hard to move forward in the city when our hearts yearn for those things(great relationships) that were pleasant and good to us at another season in our lives. However-while it is true that THINGS seem to look not so good around the City...Take Hope in the fact that MANY MANY Many have TREMENDOUS VISIONS for the future of our Beloved Clairton.
Close your eyes and remember those good relationships and Now let us Rise UP from the hopelessness-UNITE to REBUILD on those Good foundations given to us years ago.... Let us put on another set of eyes today..fix our eyes on HOPE...Together we can REBUILD the CITY.
1. Proverbs 13:12 (NIV)
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
BUT a longing fulfilled is a TREE OF LIFE.
2. Psalm 42:5

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your HOPE in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

@ The Prayer. Thank you for that message.
I'm seeing positive change occurring everyday in Clairton as a result of prayer.

To all: Be careful what you pray for, God just may say that the change begins with you. ;) In that, pray for your enemies and your own heart will change.

Pray for Clairton and God will show you your part in the change.

We the people ARE Clairton. Let your ligt shine for all to see.

All: The next step in the Memorial Hill project is to uncover the stone walkway from the fountain to the memorial.

You will need a larger shovel and a smaller one to dig the grass that has grown over these stones. Also a good pair of gloves to pull the grass up. Pile up the grass/weeds removed on the side of the road so that it is accessible for the city workers to pick it up.

You are welcome to work on this project any time that you are available. Just go and do it.

A few of us have been going in the evenings after we are done working at our jobs. If you need company, you can join us then...usually around 6pm until dark. The police have been notified that we are working on the hill and may ride by a few times; its okay.

This is a beautiful memorial and I can see the vision and pride once more.

You will truly be blessed by your efforts in ways I cannot explain.

Hope to see many of you working around the city doing what you see needs done.

Have a wonderful day!

There is an effort going now to help improve Clairton ... Rebuilding Clairton Together. Some people have such negative attitudes but we are full of optimism. All it takes is a strong desire and the belief that there will positive results to our efforts, with the help of fellow citizens who will be guided by our Lord. It's the "Golden Triangle" ... God, us and resources. We need all three. Stop with the low comments and come join our efforts! Guaranteed you'll feel good about it!

Honest question. Do those weeds needed pulled out. Or can you just go up there and edge em out with a weedwacker. Or is pulling them preference.

@ John. The fountain and the walkway around it is done being weeded. You can see the pictures on www.myclairton.com under the current projects tab. The walkway to the memorial is covered by grass. If a weedwacker can lift the dirt and grass off the stone then by all means use one.
One Very important tool I forgot to mention: A broom to sweep the stone clean once uncovered.

All: The 87 year old man you are referring to is Mr. Paul Dusi. He is a veteran of WW II.
This man is an example to all of us; if you see something needs done, just do it.
God bless Mr Dusi and his family and all of Clairton.

The whole point of building the memorial in front of the city building was because memorial hill is a mess. you act like people are buried up there and it's Arlington Cemetery. The town is now honoring those same people in a new location!!! It isn't hard to figure out. Memorial Hill isn't a memorial anymore idiots!! That's the whole point behind it.

It's hundred year old markers. The whole idea is to have bricks with names on them at the new memorial Here's an idea: take them out, put the markers in a bag and put them in a museum. you're up there pulling weeds, be careful you don't pick up a syringe. Pull up the markers and cut those trees down and gate it off.
