Wait.. So why was he expelled? So there were other things besides weed and weapons? Hmm.. Sounds interesting.

And that is pretty ridiculous that they said there was so little of the substance that they couldn't determine what it was. Are you kidding me? That doesn't even make sense... This isn't the 1800's.

First of he got expelled for weapons not drugs. Second they didn't not send the flakes to the crime lab because they wont test that small of an amount. Get pulled over and have one flake of pot in your car and i bet you don't get arrest because there has to be a certain amount. You people are pathetic you push this drug thing so far when thats not the case of why he got expelled. How many kids should get expelled for having Advil or other pain relievers that is considered the same thing by the school. I'm done with this forum.

This explanation has gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. Am I correct? This kid got expelled for having hunting equipment and a microscopic amount of an unidentifiable substance that was "thought" to be marijuana. But no one really know for sure because it was too small. I am not even going to be stupid enough to comment on that one.

Getting a little testy? Well.....if this is a case of false arrest, then why isn't the family fighting this? Better yet, he is an adult he could fight it himself. Parents dont have to be notified if the kid is an adult. And kids dont get hand-cuffed all the time. Hell, you make this sound like this school is full of bad kids. Its not. That is why people are familiar with stories like this because there aren't that many. Maybe you should look at it a little differently. Be thankful he got caught. If he is as smart as you claim, he is young enough to turn his life around and do something positive. And if SA is so bad, his family ought to be glad he doesn't have to go there anymore. And one more question - How little they found of what? So, if you have a little bit of drugs they let you go? Give me a break. No school district just decides to expel a kid "just like that". There has to be good reason because the district is still responsible for their education.
Well Guess what, This school district did expel him "Just like that" and yes they family was fighting this. And oh by the way: They did pick on one kid! SA school board does what they want. If you think this is a perfect school you are sadly mistaken.

The SA school board was good enough once upon a time to get his father a coaching position. Seriously, no one is stupid enough to buy your explanation of him getting expelled for no good reason. The school has a zero tolerance policy. They have made their position clear. If they let him go, then they have the entire district to answer to. A knife is a weapon regardless of what its used for. And as for a little bit of drugs - is that like being a little bit pregnant? And to answer your question FACTS - if a kid has any kind of drug - over the counter or otherwise, it is against school policy. No one regardless of who they are should be above the rules. That is what the bottom line is here. And I Wander - should be Wonder - no one ever said SA was perfect - but no other district is either. You commit the crime - you do the time. END OF STORY..........

Jumping in here real fast did or did not the school board fire his father after one year because of new people on the board? Yea accident or not weapons were found and he got punish ok but the board is corrupt and the law even states that zero tolerance must be looked at case to case because sometimes accidents do happen and expulsion is not necessary. End of story is he got expelled finished up somewhere else and will be going to a college most SA students will not get into his father working there only pays for education not grades to get in or recruitment on the football team. But I feel bad for other kids that this might happen to because the school does not follow their policies and need to work on less students failing and dropping out. There is no doubt that this family is not liked by the SA school board due to a few people in power. Not even that they do not listen nor care about the students. I am hoping in the future a new board will take over and run the school right and help the students not themselves. SA Mom do you think this kid was or could have been a danger to another student?

Whether or not this kid could have been a danger to another student was not the issue. The issue was the school weapons policy was violated and they enforced the rules. To answer the question of firing his father - the school went through 5 football coaches in a 5 year time period. Cortazzo coached twice. The last year he was coaching, there were many complaints about him and it was no surprise that he was replaced. The football program has never been productive at SA - with or without Cortazzo. Inconsistency is probably one of the main factors - which can be directly attributed to the fact that no coach was ever given a chance to turn the program around. Hopefully this new coach will be able to do something. You seem to be very passionate about school rules - maybe you need to get involved to do something to change them. The problem here is that the rules were enforced to the fullest extent Unfortunately for this boy, in this day and age, that is the way it has to be. He doesn't really seem to have suffered much. Maybe in the long run it will be a good lesson learned. And to address your comment about the school not enforcing their policies - they do enforce them - and it is a bitter pill to swallow when the so-called "good students" pay the price. School politics has nothing to do with the students failing and dropping out - that is a guidance issue. And SA certainly has a "horrifying" guidance department. They always did and unless something earth shattering happens, they always will. THAT is the reason people do not want to go to SA High School - no direction/assistance for the kids who need it the most. In closing, if you have paid any attention to the kids who have been expelled in the past - as well as the reasons for their expulsions - there are many people who feel their children were "picked on" and "made an example of" The Cash Cortazzo story is really nothing new. But it all goes back to the rules - and this is what happens when they are not followed.

SA has slacks. Its a shame this happened, but he is moving up and on ward. The school board enacts vendettas against people and their families. This isnt the 1st or last time school board will do it. I would love them to come in on random days and check EVERYONE teachers included!! SA MOM, the football team wasnt always unproductive, they did win games.. Although that was ages ago.

Hey Moron, Get your facts straight....It was a shell not weapons......God, how many kids in the past at SA would leave right from school and go hunting with their car loaded with their hunting gear including their rifles. SA has become a joke. The old verbage it's who you know in this town. I hope for your sake you never piss them off because guess what it will be your kid on the chopping block...Oh and yea if your caught with Advil your expelled!
