hi I'm Carolyn Engledow some of the info below tells you about me, I am an a 53 year old author, pastor, and a grand juror for Benton County Iowa. I am married with 5 children and I live in Urbana, Iowa.
Branded, a book by Carolyn Hendrix Engledow, a former resident of West Monroe and Monroe, Louisiana details the horrible sexual and physical abuse that she endured throughout her childhood and her deliverance through Christ from the wretched lifestyle that she lived as a result of the injuries she suffered. In her book she mentions her growing up years in Trenton Community of West Monroe, LA and Booker T. Washington Addition., the schools she attended, West Monroe Jr.H.S. West Monroe High School, Boley Elementary, and Carroll High School. In addition she mentions living in a environment which appeared to be safe because of the effectiveness of the West Monroe and Monroe Police Department, and the Ouachita Sheriff Dept. She dedicated her book to numerous schoolmates, including the West Monroe High School Class of 1974, the 1982 Class of OIC of Ouachita, LA Technical College, Carroll High School, the residents of Trenton and Booker T communities, Olive Branch Baptist Church, Empire Church of Deliverance, Daystar Ministries, and the students of Boley Elementary from 1962-1968. The book will be released and sold on Amazon.com in June, 2009.
Claire Reeves--the author of Childhood It Should Not Hurt, and the recipient of various awards from Law Enforcement Agencies, Congressional leaders, and Arnold Swarzenegger and the State of California and the Mayor of Los Angeles--is the founder of M.A.S.A., Mothers Against Sexual Abuse. i myself grew up in the area, i remember carolyn
i am older than she and her brothers.i can say without a doubt she had much love in her home.

Thank you, Barbara. My mom did love me, but even she did not know that her boyfriend raped me repeatedly every time she arose to go to the restroom or into the kitchen. No one knew what went on in our bed. Not even my brothers who were in the next room. I was too afraid to tell. Now, God is saying it is time to clear the air, to help others who are facing the same trauma. My Mother loved me and I loved her, but there are no perfect parents. As parents we oftentimes make decisions that may appear to be the right choice, she needed financial help but little did she know that the man she allowed to sleep in OUR bed was a child rapist. Only he and I knew that. I forgave Ma and myself and so now it is time for me to help others deal with their sexually abusive past.

Unless you slept under the covers with us, you wouldn't know what was occurring in our bed. I wish some of the relatives who knew us so well would have been there to help me.
