These cuts are the result of the lack of governance from the Board of Trustees.Lack of governance, leadership and administration resulted in these cuts. Shame on our elected officials. The state legislative is also to blame.

For the full story, please visit www.riohondo.edu and see the Accreditation Report. It's an eye-opener.

Also, since you live in South El Monte, please inform Rio Hondo's "powers that be," that the South El Monte Senior Center is NOT in El Monte.(See, p. 18 of Rio's 2009 Fall Schedule of "off-campus" credit classes.) I have told them about this for a long, long time. They hear, but don't listen.

Whittier does--we don't and neither do you in South El Monte.

You are so right. Last night, we witnessed Andre Quintero (President of the Rio Hondo Community College Board of Trustees) make a mushy, gushy presentation of his candidacy for Mayor of El Monte.

He said that the $1.7 million the college is spending (of our money) to build a totally unnecessary "satellite" here in El Monte has helped save El Monte from bankruptcy. The spending of this "borrowed" money from the $249,000,000 Whopper Tax-Bond
is a total waste.

We had a very successful "satellite" from 1996 to 2003. Good old Andre voted to close it. He did so after never having visited same.

Andre Quintero and Company chose not to lease one or two of our large closed elementary schools, with over 30 classrooms and a beautiful air-conditioned office, and ample parking, with ample restrooms.

These sites, Norwood & Mulhall Schools will remain closed for about 15 years. Their closures are a direct result of good old Andre's Prop. A (The $249,000,000 Super Whopper Rio Hondo Tax-Bond), tied to Andre's (the conservative spender) & his Proposition P & Q tax measures.

Why? Rents went up and THE FAMILIES WITH KIDS LEFT.

Every school in the district has lost at least 300 children to date--with more departures soon to come.

Andre Q. is leaving Rio Hondo C.C. at the very time it's under the Sword of Damocles: threatened loss of accreditation.

See: www.riohondo.edu & read the Accreditation Report with its
warnings. Compton College lost their accreditation and the results were disastrous.

Loss of accreditation means:

1. No student loans. 2. No student scholarships.

3. No G.I. Bill Benefits...and NO FEDERAL FUNDS.

Rio Hondo College is bureaucratic shithole. I went through that silly environmental program with that dick Steve Katnik promising jobs to everyone, so they would waste their time while little Stevie puts a political feather in his cap. I know no one that became employed through that program even though the school claims otherwise. When I asked them to prove it, they stated that they kept no such records. So you can see how badly this place sucks. It doesn't surprise me that they almost lost accreditation. In fact, if they turned it back in to a dairy farm it would serve the public much better.
