The case against Wal-Mart, Glendora, California 91740
The criticisms against Wal-Mart are well documented.
The company employs 2.1 million people, many of whom subsist on near-poverty wages.
Only about half of its U.S. employees have company-sponsored health insurance; the rest have to fend for themselves or depend on the government for health care.
Wal-Mart has been accused of predatory pricing by its competitors.
Suppliers claim that its persistent pressure to lower prices has led to bankruptcies, closed plants and lost jobs.
It imports so much product from China it's been blamed for the growing U.S. trade deficit there.
It's been accused of sexual discrimination, gender discrimination, child-labor violations, anti-Semitism, employing undocumented immigrants, denying overtime wages, dodging taxes, excessive pollution and, of course, general thuggishness.

SMITH REFUSED TO ANSWER WHEN ASKED HIS NAME
West Covina Council Meeting ** districting measure
S.G.V. EXAMINER January 15 - 21, 2009 Page B7
MARK SMITH, from Glendora talked in length about districting in West Covina. Councilman Mike Touhey asked SMITH if he goes by any other name or an alias? SMITH actually refused to answer and wanted to know why the councilman was asking. Touhey felt he may have used another name and tried do the same thing in Glendora (districting). Touhey suggested a name and SMITH stated,"Thank you" for thinking he was that person.
However, he never confirmed he was in fact really MARK SMITH. Calls to a number of people in Glendora that often attend council meetings or have interest in the city were asked if they could identify a MARK SMITH from their city. The description of being grubby and dirty looking and like he could be homeless with long hair in a pony tale and close to 50 years old fit the man (MARK SMITH) who spoke at the council meeting. He also identifies himself as MARK SMITH at Glendora Council meetings.

Glendora California wan't to make it's current Wal-Mart in to a SUPER Wal-Mart, residents have said NO!
On another note, Glendora's city council has a history of discriminating against women and other minorities, court cases have shown this to be true.
On Monday the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals voted 6-5 along ideological lines to certify a gender discrimination claim against retail giant Wal-Mart, making it the largest class action employment discrimination case ever.
The suit alleges that the world's largest private employer pays women less than men for the same jobs, that female employees receives fewer promotions than their male counterparts and that women need to wait longer for those promotions than men.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs believe the class covers more than one million women. Wal-Mart asserts the number is more along the lines of 500,000 potential class members.

Wal-Mart sores are leading factor in bring down the economy of United States of America.
When Wal-Mart first came to be, the motto was: BUY AMERICA, that has changed. Walk through Wal-Mart stores today, you will find 90% of the products for sold are made in CHINA. Not only is that taking away American Jobs but it's feeding the economy of CHINA and not UNITED STATES.
"Obama sees an intrinsic value in taking a hard line on immigration enforcement because - like many Democrats from blue-collar and industrial states - he believes that excessive levels of (illegal) immigration hurt U.S. workers and that it's his responsibility to protect American jobs.
According to this mind-boggling reasoning, protecting American jobs only makes American workers "soft and fosters a sense of entitlement."

But it would be a mistake to say that Wal-Mart is merely following the new logic of retail competition.
Jennifer Stapleton, assistant director of the United Food and Commercial Workers project Making Change at Walmart, They set the rules.
Consider Ana Sanchez, a 45-year-old immigrant to Southern California from Mexico.
Wal-Mart does not directly employ her but is in some sense her boss. Sanchez worked two years at a temp agency that staffed a large California warehouse.
She was trying to put her three children through college in Oaxaca, Mexico, on pay that started at $6.75 an hour, then rose to $8, with no benefits.
She retrieved cartons, put labels on products, then shrink-wrapped plastic around pallets to ship. Mainly, she shipped children’s clothing made in China to Wal-Mart.
The work was hard, fast, and stressful, with “constant pressure,” she says.“If I killed myself to make 2,000 labels one day, the next day, they’d give me 200 more.
They kept raising the quota. And with every order from Wal-Mart, the supervisors would say there’s an urgency for us to do it. Managers would complain that the company was putting a lot of pressure on them.”
Rushing to wrap a pallet in April 2009, Sanchez fell and injured herself. Despite an unblemished work record, the agency fired her, supposedly for a paperwork error, but more likely -- she believes -- because she was hurt.

Michael Matthews appears to have, once again half the story, this seems to be quite common for city council follower's - leashed.
Another example of one idiot holding a community hostage. IN FACT IT'S THE CITY COUNCIL THAT IS HOLDING THE COMMIITY HOSTAGE!
We need tort reform so crazies like Mr. Briggs are held accountable and go away. TAKE A LONG LOOK AT THE TRACK RECORD AND SPENDING SPREE THE CITY OF GLENDORA, CALIFORNIA HAS GONE ON, WITH IT'S WASTED MONIES ON LAWSUITS.

In May 2012, Wal-Mart agreed to pay nearly $5 million in back wages and damages to more than 4,500 employees who were misclassifed as being exempt from overtime rules.
That paled in comparison to the $352 million the company paid in 2008 to settle allegations it didn't provide workers with proper rest and meal breaks
Then Wal-Mart was caught bribing Mexico officials in connection with their Wal-Mart stores in Mexice and around the world.
