In the 90's the lots for vendors was based on location and it was a set amount for the duration of the show based on how close to the center of town it was. They were cheaper the further from the center your lot was located, they had a map with lots marked with prices, I witnessed it with my own eyes.
About $2000 a space uptown add that up!!! Y do they get to go to Hawaii every year then they don't make no money...lol Hawaii is very expensive trip the whole committee goes!!!

I heard to get the good spots downtown someone has to die pretty much. I won't be going this year. The food is outrageously expensive and I don't feel like paying a ton to park either

You guys just don't understand. They do not make that much money. You have to see it in a business prospective, they are charging for electric a certain rate and then charged by AEP. Where do you think the fees are? Someone has to come set up the temporary utility poles, that cost money. The electric usage cost money. Renting port a johns for the week isn't cheap either. You have to pay all of the people running around organizing the show, it takes a lot of work, time is money. You also have to think the pumpkin show has to pay workers to block the roads off, clean up after and everything else. People just don't understand... Like those you say it's rediculous McDonald's charges 50 cents for a piece of cheese. An employees rate at 8.00 per hour / 60 min =.13 so 30 sec to grab the piece of cheese and put it on cost .07 then take that rate and multiply by 4 for your overhead plus the cost of the cheese and a 50% markup. They gotta make money somehow. Stop being cheap and get jobs or run a business to understand how to make money

I know this is another subject, but what about
the bands, I enjoy the bands on Main Street stage. Only Tootle's has any lately. Could we get some great bands? I'll keep going to Columbus area
for that entertainment,HA
Also thought it might be cool to have a small roller coaster like the one at the state fair. Just to finally have something different. It gets old seeing the same things every year in the exact same spot. We need fresh ideas for the Pumpkin Show.
Change it up a little for the younger generation!

Bottom line, inflation sucks. People always complain about costs going up but they have and will continue to do so until our country collapses, which I think may occur if our politicians don't start working for the people instead of working for their party. They vote based on their political party regardless of what the majority of the citizens want. The government is too big, nothing is getting done, and they've forgotten what their job is. They're worried more about defying the other party than solving problems and creating ways to help the citizens. Its scary and I see no resolution in the near future. We need a complete overhaul of our government. I know, I'm off topic, but inflation is why prices for everything keeps going up, including food, games, and rides at The Pumpkin Show!!

If you knuckle dragging clowns knew what kind of economic impact the Pumpkin Show into our community, you would think twice about your restarted blathering.

You are worried about the cost of pizza? Maybe do some research on what a bed tax or a sales tax at the point of sale does for a budget you would possibly learn a thing of two.

Idc if they're making money but the "city" should be making money too. The OP acted as if the city's taking a hit while the committee makes enough to take an extravagant vacation every year. I have a problem with that, regardless of a sales tax or bed tax or whatever else you claim to know that we don't know. If I know or don't know the exact structure of taxes and distribution is totally irrelevant, it would be more useless knowledge cluttering my brain.

A flight to Hawaii is anywhere from $1000-$1500 depending on how early you book it,a room can be found from 150-400$ a night depending where you are staying & knowing these people they are not staying at a budget inn. so multiply that kinda money for these people.

Madison and others...you need to get your facts straight before you start saying crap on here.
The committee members do not get one red cent of this money! Pumpkin Show has an audit completed every year. You want to see the numbers then ask for them. It is also published in the paper.
Nobody is making money off of this and nobody is going to Hawaii. If they do its on their own money. All of the above is bullshit. Don't tell me that I don't know because I do. I am on the committee.
