I'm a bit confused. I grew up in the country and have been bit by ticks numerous times. I was reading on google where people get put on antibiotics after being bitten with no signs of lyme. Am I just a ignorant tick rebel, or.....what?

Ixodes scapularis "deer tick" is the only tick that has lyme disease. Most people get bit by Dermacentor variabilis "dog tick" they are bigger and can not care that.

Deer ticks carry lyme disease, but it is rare in this part of the country.Com mon dog ticks carry rocky mountain spotted fever, but it too is rare in this part of the country. The meds are a precautionary measure.
