The government will do something if we all get a big petition signed. The republican party would love that then they can take away all welfare. HAHAHA

The way I see it, if you've been on welfare for more than 2 years you are just a drag on society. If you have been on WIC more than once, you should forfeit all other benefits. No one else is responsible for your bad choices and if you have more than one kid--that's a bad choice if you can't feed them. Go after the "baby daddies"! I am tired of paying for your snot-nosed brats! If you do drugs, smoke, have tattoos(especially the ones of your baby's footprint), have a flat screen t.v., a nice cell phone, you need your benefits cut. Lots of hard-working people deserve more than you. By the way, don't forget to sign up for free Christmas gifts.

I wish I was. Not only do they have footprint tattoos, they also have names, birth weights, birthday, etc. Nothing like branding yourself for all time as a "welfare loser" and being proud to be a parasite!

I went to the city pool (briefly) and I saw lots of things that damned-near scared me to death. Lots of those tattoos and extremely skimpy swimsuits. Not to mention, some had a baby on their hip and pregnant again. I'm sure chlorine couldn't kill what was floating off those bodies. Probably the only bath some of those kids get.

my hubby has our boys foot prints next to his heart, from when they were born and their DOB... nothing wrong with that, My husband gets laid off most winters and has to draw unemployment, and the system helped us a little, not much but a little to get us threw the winter, but he pays into that all year and never has he recived as much as hes paid in, It does suck that ppl who really need it dont get it and ppl who hasnt worked a day in their lives get it, shoot, like the ppl that use to live next door to me. none of them worked one guy gets ssi for being over weight, and hes only like 26??? and the other guy who lived there was trying to get ssi b/c his dad died when he was like 2, and hes 19!!!! and last but not least the woman who was seeing the 19 year old is like 29-30 she was trying to get ssi for her 2 young boys !!! now that is screwing the system...

If you have worked and paid taxes most of your life and try to get help then the welfare case workers treat you like dirt and insult you so badly even when you are sick and have bad disabilities from work injuries. The case workers are so nice to the ones who have never worked and fraud the system selling their food stamps and Wic and using medicaid cards to get drugs to sell. They need to be fired. The welfare program needs changed badly.

Rule #1, NEVER go to a public pool, they contain more bacteria then your toilet bowel does but you probably figured that out huh? Better late then never.

Just went in to pick up a neighbor. No way I would ever get in that water. Hell, I don't even like to touch door handles, menus, shopping carts, etc. out in public!

Wowzerz, if your husband gets laid off most winters why doesn't he pick up another job or go to school when his regular job is shut down? Could be better budgeting might help you prepare for the inevitable. There are benefits that would probably help both of you get an education that would ensure a better future for you and your children. I applaud you for only needed limited assistance, but if you see the need coming, prepare for it.

We have had our fair share of our probs, such as health probs, and deaths to have to pay for, not that I need to explain my self, but i also go to school part time now, I only have 4 mos left... and as for my husband he works his but off 6 days a week 10-14 hrs a day and i'm not talking about some easy job i am talking about hard manual work that most ppl couldnt do, but if and when he gets laid off, its never been more than 2 mos out of the winter, so its not that bad, he deserves time off, he doesnt get vacation time or any thing like that, I no i couldnt do what he does... he is a good man who works hard for his family, he has worked all his life since he was 15. and so have i until i started school, so the way i look at it at least its there if we need it. but it is ashame that some ppl take advantage of it like some wemon i know that are my age have been on it their entire lives, and now they are raising their children to be the same way, teaching young girls if they get preg, they dont have to work and they get free stuff from welfare! Its awful!

Wowzerz, Nothing personal, but nearly everyone has some obstacles in their lives. When your husband works all those hours, you need to save for the downtimes. It isn't my job to pay for his "vacation", especially if it happens every year and you KNOW it will happen every year. He may "deserve" the time off. but I don't deserve to pay for it. By the way, do we buy Christmas for your kids too?

Glad to hear that you are in school.

Many types of construction jobs go through layoff periods and like Wowzerz said, it's normally not for a long period of time. Construction jobs are necessary so if everyone went into another field, who would fill those positions? And as far as you, Rebel, paying for the time he's off, Cale is right, you/tax payers don't, the employer pays it. Even if her husband would change fields, someone taking his place would get laid off also. Your original post was about people stealing welfare, which i know there are many that take advantage of it yet I don't believe Wowzerz's family falls into that category. I hope you don't believe that anyone getting help is a thief because there are many cases where that's far from the truth and that's why those programs were put into place. It's just a shame though that those who are truly in need are made to feel ashamed or embarrassed by the people that work in those agencies, when if there weren't those same people asking for help, the workers would be right in their shoes. And not trying to be disrespectful at all but if by chance 'you' are buying their kids Christmas, be happy your tax dollars could help someone rather than your elected officials taking it for themselves some how. And not that I wish this on you but always remember, nobody knows when their floor can drop out from under them and be in that same place.

Point taken. You don't know me either. I regularly contribute to 5 charities and just spent $200. on food for the food bank. There is no shame in short-term unemployment, but my point is that if you know downtime is coming you, plan for it. By the way, each Christmas my family & I adopt a family to buy gifts for. We can do this because we budget effectively.

My complaint is about those who squander benefits they have not earned, paid for by those by those who may be paying for the perks with money they may not have.

Rebel, I understand what you're saying and also think its great that you're able to help families like you do. There are so many people that say 'I pay for your,,,,' just because they pay taxes. I just felt bad that Wowzerz felt she needed to explain or defend herself and family, when her husband works hard and she's bettering herself by going to school. Again, I do understand and it IS very upsetting when I see so many that live off of assistance because generations of their family before them have done the same. It also upsets me when there are people that truly need a little help but they don't know how to scam the system, therefore don't get it.
