i know addiction takes control of everything, but i dont understand why people start doing these drugs when they know the out come. yes drugs are bad but its not the drugs killing people its people killing themselves with help. i feel for all the families that has lost a loved one over addiction. i pray for the addicts that still has a chance at life. if people would offer ways to help someone get sober instead of bashing them into the ground that would be a start. then that sober person would help a friend and boom a chain reaction, all of a sudden we got more sober people in our community. have faith and believe, stop the doubt and hatred.

Well to be honest if this were to happen more people would stop doing that stuff! I remember when all that heroine went around a few years back and started to rid this town and world of these bottom feeders! Be productive with your life, not becoming a statistic!!! Yeah this is a little cold hearted to say... but it's true!
no one needs to die over some stupid choice they made when they're so young.
Maybe it was his first time. maybe his friends pressured him in to doing it.

Do you realize it may not be that easy. The withdrawl from these drugs can be more deadly than the drug itself. They did have the choice at first to say no. Peer pressure is a strong thing. and whose not to say that a joint wasn't loaded with something other than weed. I've never used drugs persay but I have known through out my life of people who had. I've known some the people who have passed from herion and my heart does goes out to the families. The community of this little town needs to offer help other than pars cause well that's a joke. We all are entitled to our opinions. But as a community we need to help. Even tho this is an self inflicting illness. It is an illness

hese kids needs to be in an inpatient reab facility. Withdrawl from these drugs can be just as deadly as the drug itself. Parents needs to be involved no matter what the age of the child. There is no need to bash these kids. The drug take over they probably are good kids kids if you take away the addiction. This is an illness. Instead of the addict bashing put your hand out and offer help. To the Travis Johnson family my heart goes out to you. May God be with during the time of your loss. To all who reads this don't pass judgment unless you have offered help. Its so easy to knock someone who apparently is already try helping them back up. KARMA does come back around
Im a recovering addict and those who never battled addiction it would be hard for you to comprehend. I have that problem with my own parents who never had addiction problems and they have had to deal with me for 18 years and my wife too. I would love nothing more than us to stay clean but this is a disease. You can believe with all your soul you dont want or wont use 99% of the time but honestly that 1% is what causes things like this. I knew Travis well and though he made bad choice he was a great guy towards me and my kids. It dont make it right but his family needs support and prayers more than anything cuz they arent just another statistic even some of the oblivious might seem it that way. God bless and surround the Johnsons as well as all the families dealing with this ugliness...

Well what a sad situation, but like you said "22 yrs old not 12". At 18, we become adults in the eyes of the law. And many of us are forced to grow up and become adults, some of which will put a needle in their arm. He was one of them.

And before I get bashed know this forum, I would like to express my deepest sympathy for his parents and loved ones.

But there is no way I am going to feel sorry for a JUNKIE even if he was 22. He chose to put TOXIC crap in host veins. He died because of it. Drugs are dangerous....that is why they are illegal, so those who are to stupid to stay away have a harder time trying to find them.

I have worked in the field of addiction for almost fifteen years. You are right that it's an illness, and needs to be addressed. HOWEVER, you are propagating a commpn myth. You can't die from withdrawal of heroin or other opiates. A person will feel like they are going to die, but I promise they will not. The only two substances that can result in death during the withdrawal process are alcohol, and benzodiazipines. Saying they will die from heroin withdrawal, only provides addicts with an excuse to continue to use.
