im sorry for what hapened to the girl but racism is everywhere. Racism occurs all over the world and can happen to anyone and will always exist, because people will always be prejudice. For some it may not be their fault, it may be the way they were brought up, or perhaps they had bad experiences themselves. Whatever the cause, it will continue through their children and through the generations. i believe racism will only die out if we educate each and every person in the world.

Was wondering why a Baltimore story is on a Cincy forum, but after living in Cincinnasti, it is rather relevant. I am neither white nor black. I worked in OTR for a year and a half. Thankfully I wasn't working that day that activist from the "Black Fist" was gunned down in front of City Hall, but my girlfriend at the time hung out in OTR a lot, so she was there. As word spread that this activist was shot, the black people in OTR was getting ready to riot, assuming a white man killed him, until they discovered two hours later the activist was murdered by a black man the activist had a long standing feud with. Race plays a big role here in this city, and after dealing with both the races, there is still oversensitivity and suspicion among the races. The other day, I was called a racist because I did not have change for a poor black man. Never mind the fact I'm poor and living off SSI. It really bothered me that because I didn't help out a brother, I must hate all black people. There is a double standard that needs to be addressed. Black people can make fun of white people, berate them, call them racist, and call each other the N word, but woe to the white person who they perceive to do the same thing. That is not helping race relations. Not that some whites aren't racist, but it is more culturally accepted to knock whites in the media and in real life.

First of all, please learn how to punctuate, capitalize and spell. "When a white person shoots a black person?" Are you serious? I guarantee what you are talking about is a police officer shooting a black suspect during the commission of a felony. I challenge you to find one recent case, just one recent case where an innocent black man was gunned down by a white criminal. For any one case you can sight, I can sight you 20 where a white, Asian, or Hispanic man was murdered buy a black man during the commission of a crime. Also, people make hangman's knots for all kinds of reasons; Halloween for example. Sorry to disappoint you, but there isn't a racist under every rock. Please tell me Dee, what is it that she could have done to deserve being mercilessly beaten by a group of animals? I really love the total lack of responsibility taken on by some of the good white (I'm guessing) folks on this board.

Have we all forgotten about slavery, and the fact that blacks weren't even considered 'human' in the US until less than half a century ago? Where was all this animal talk when black people were being systematically beaten and forced to bend at the hand of an oppressive country (that brought black people here against their will, lets not forget)? Oh I know where it was...it was just about anywhere you could see or hear a white person. Some things never change...just the circumstances.

While I do not advocate violence, I would be more open to that than I would be to advocate ignorance. If white people are so scared to ride the bus, and so afraid of the savage black man...maybe the white man ought to take some accountability for his actions, instead of playing the 'poor me' campaign. I agree that it is not in good form for anyone of any race to look at another person with disdain based solely on pigment (or lack there-of). I have however seen similar behavior invoked upon minorities by white people. This is not just a black on white issue. Since the beginning of time man has been compelled to rally in communities and adhere to a pack mentality...usually as a means of control or oppression (anyone remember the KKK?)

In response to the person who said black people only get a slap on the wrist when they attack white people: you must be living in Superman's bizarro world. On average minority offenders of any crime, violent or otherwise, are given far stiffer penalties than their white counterparts. It is no mystery why there is a grossly disproportional percentage of minorities in the US prison system.

My point is...at the end of the day we are all human beings. It is understandable to be angry...we all have emotions. To sit back and make blanket statements about a whole group of people is just wrong. If this is to be the status quo, then I'm just going to go ahead and hate white people for the centuries of tyranny and colonialization they have inflicted upon the world as a whole.

Until millions of white people are faced with being taken from their homes and treated as sub-humans because of fights on the bus, I'll be over here playing the worlds smallest violin and whistling my favorite negro spirituals.

As I recall more white people died in the civil war to end slavery than in all other US wars combined. Yes, Hundreds of thousands of WHITE people died to end the immoral practice of slavery. Every group of people has had to overcome hardships. My father came to this country and nobody would employ him. They called him "Kraut" and "Nazi" because he came from Germany. He swept floors in a New York warehouse for months before he could afford to bring my mother here on a boat. He finally became a bricklayer and worked 12 to 18 hours a day to support our family. He bought an empty lot behind our house and single handedly built a house at night. He sold that and built another, without spending it on "Bling Bling". He sold that and built another. After years of hard WORK, he became a millionaire. Why can a man who was hated, abused, couldn't speak English, & had an 8th grade education, succeed? Because he's white? No, because success comes dressed in overalls and looks a lot like hard work. Now ask yourself Megabusive, How many people in your community fit that description, and still have not succeeded? 0. that's how many. 0. The possibilities in this country are boundless, and as long as you play a victim and wait for your ship to come in, there is no hope for you, you're bound to be a failure. The blame can be placed squarely on the shoulders of liberal politicians who promote socialist policies that leave the black family in shreds.
