I shouldn't say such things because someone might be listening and think it a good idea.

Rather than take down the signs proclaiming I-275 the Donald H. Rolf Circle Freeway why not put up electronic signs and sell naming rights like is now done on sports complexes. That way we could honor Matt Maupin one week and the next sell space to Joe's Towing service.

Actually, I think that a few signs on the side of a freeway that no one reads is a POOR way to honor Matt Maupin.

It is fitting to give credit where credit is due for the traffic jams and endless construction zones to the guy that ramrodded the project through - Donald H. Rolf. Let people from far and near continue to wonder who the hell he was and why they would name a traffic jam for him.

People are killed EVERY DAY in Cincinnati, children run over by buses and cars, murders, the list is endless of innocent people dying every day. What about the little girl in the car? Who do you name highways after and who do you not? Maybe this is a way to finally appease the parents, and I mean no disrespect when I say this.

Why is it everytime someone is running for public office they use the Maupins? Why state Reps. Joe Ueker and Tom Brinkman? Why should Matt Maupin have a highway named after him? I have no problem naming it Veterans Highway after all those great people who have served. Or how about MIA Highway?

Unfortunately candidates are using our nation's troops as election campaign material. That's almost as bad as President Junior labeling them incompetent for not being able to disarm Hussein after 10+ years of military-blockading, bombing, satellite mapping and spy-infiltration.

They claim to be supporting our troops but in reality, who's supporting who ? Our troops are getting screwed from every angle whether it be the Iraqi Resistance or our Politicians f*ing up on their equipment and orders.

Amazing.

Matt Maupin can not stand up in front of all of you and show you his scars.. he can't stand if front of you and tell you what he has been through.. he may not be able to tell you what's it been like to be held captive...
He deserves the right to be remembered by our community.. and you might not think a highway sign is the way to do it.. then what is?
Before you bash on our politicians serving our state, why don't you think to yourself, what have you done to be sure he isn't forgotten???
He fought for you, your family and for the guys next to him, yes there are many who have fallen and died, and your right what can we do to recgonize them?? What do you propose.. you post on a BLOG but what do you actually do to contribute to real life???
Three and a half years in captivity!!!
Tell me doesn't he deserve to be recgonized???
How many others do we know from Clermont County, Ohio who have done that???
Pray him home... Never Forget SSGT Keith "Matt" Maupin, 04/09/2004

We mourn for all of the soldiers who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom. Matt really shouldn't be singled out to recognise. There are many local families that have lost their loved ones to this war and wars in the past. Held Captive or not they are gone from us forever. Let us be grateful for all the U.S. troops. 4/2/2008

God Bless this young man who is now in heaven, and his family who is left behind to deal with the tremendous loss. Whenever your child dies, it is a tragedy to the family. When it is caused by WAR, it is even harder to comprehend. Rest in peace, soldier.

What about Taylor Prayzinski, Heines, Rockhold, Cifuentes and all he others from the Cincinnati area. Everyone was serving their country, why is this one more news worthy than the others. Don't get me wrong, my heart goes out the the Maupins and luckily I have never had to feel a loss like they have but....evreyone deserves equal credit. No one else had the large memorials and media frenzy....

The main difference that SSGT Matt Maupin's passing was different from others who gave their precious lives was that he was brutally murdered and on purpose. He was not a victim of a roadside bomb or an IED, but rather a young man who was mocked by some cowards with covered faces holding AK47's, who wanted to teach the Americans that they had power over his life, murdered him and hid the body for well over 3 years. We, back at home, prayed that his remains would be found so there at least could be closure for his family,
friends, and Americans who cared. I hope those responsible rot in the hottest part of hell. Welcome home Matt, and rest in peace.....

I think it is disrespectful to name a section of highway after just one soldier. Our lawmakers need to come up with a name that would honor all of the young men and women who have given their lives for our country. No one of them is more important than the other. We don't know the grief that the other families have suffered. They just chose to do it privately. Because they did not make a media event of their soldiers death, do their sons and daughters not deserve to be recongnized? I and everyone I know will oppose the naming of a section of 275 after only one soldier. We need to honor all of them.

Nobody in Iraq is fighting for ME. It's for Big Oil and bigger egos.

No worse than anybody else getting killed for Big Oil.

Our military kills innocent people all the time.

Politicians are using this one guy to get everyone whipped up into a big patriotic fever.

Disgusting.
