Let's see... High taxes, no jobs, infrastructure falling apart, state hostile to business in general, politicians who only care about spending but have no way to pay for it... I guess I can see why people are leaving in droves.

Don't forget generally less-than-stellar schools and a not particularly well-trained workforce. And certainly don't forget our governor, who thinks that starting the keno game will help solve the state's financial problems. Then replicate this mess on a national level, where the candidates for president and the Democrat-controlled Congress seem to only be able to talk about having government try to do more and definitely spend more, and you have a formula for a bright and optiistic future. Genius.

Yep. Unfortunately, the PEOPLE left instead of the politicians; but then the PEOPLE voted the stupid politicians IN. You vote for a dem these days that's what you get. Take a look at their agenda.

People need to be VERY careful before they vote. And please DO vote. If you don't, the victory goes to the idiots who DO vote and don't pay attention.

Unfortunately, this is happening slowly in other parts of the country as well. You won't HAVE business if you don't create a good climate for it to thrive. Business means JOBS and liberal dems are anti business.

That saddens me. My home turf destroyed by a bunch of frickin liberals.

I'm yet another person who couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, it's harder than hell to sell a house and get out of here.

What about to retirees? Long as there's a good doc nearby.

Sorry. Too vague sometimes. I MEAN since it's been said that the infrastructure is going to pot, jobs there are negligable; then how is the area for retirees? If there's at least a good doc nearby, sounds like a place to retire.

Or is that an ignorant statement.

No, it really isn't.
We actually have a LOT of retirees (as witnessed by a lot of area voting when a school issue is on the ballot), unfortunately good doctors are slowly dwindling out of the area because Ohio's got some of the highest malpractice insurance in the industry - so doctors are slowly leaving Ohio as well.

That is so sad. You have a reasonably nice climate, some nice little homes and a basically ruined economy. All to waste. I grew up there.
Maybe love covers a multitude of wrong, but it sure doesn't sound like where I grew up.

So it's true. You can't ever go home on this earth. You make your home where you are.

Sounds like you need some new political blood to help unjug the mess that was made.

Do you know how to catch wild hogs?...You catch wild hogs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground.

The hogs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The hogs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild hogs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how To forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

This is exactly what I see happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms- just a little at a time.

One should always remember…There is no such thing as a free lunch!...Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

The Democrats have based their platform on free lunch for several decades now…Has it actually helped anybody yet? The complaints and promises today are the EXACT ones discussed EVERY election since JFK. Do you think it might be time to at least listen to a different perspective?

In Toledo, i'm the reason for the loss. Support Communism. Support my misuse of Toledoans' tax money for useless and unsucessful downtown projects. Support my high taxes you bitches. Support my high larceny theft and arson rate. Support my unbelievable burglary rate. Support my red army (Toledo Police Department aka, the pigs) and my KGB (Special Task Unit, Gang Task Force, Metro, etc.) and my loyal puppet (Mike "sic em boy" Navarre) for beating up on innocent minorities and poor whites in Central and North Toledo. Support my big azz sink holes on every street in the city. Support my bad azz business practices and my bullying ways. Support the way why I use my dog max for sexual favors in my office downtown. Support my hero Joseph Stalin, a man I amire and imitate of bullying City Council members here. Support my right to spend tax payers money on useless flowers all over the city. Support my will of letting Toledo #5 most concentrated abandon housing city in the country. Support my will of having over 80000 people (undesirable American traitors) leave Toledo since my beginning reign as Leader of UTSR (Union Toledo Socialist Republic). I'm your savior. Salute the red flag you bitches.

Just moved out of Ohio to Florida. Don't ever plan on going back. Left because my wife lost her job. She got substantially better, in both numbers and salary, offers in Orlando. There are no income taxes here. The sun shines most days, unlike in north east Ohio. Once winter hits, you never see the sun, your stuck paying for heat (it's cheaper to cool), and the roads are in horrible condition. Who needs that crap! What is the draw to Ohio? I can't think of any.

All of these areas have very high crime, poor schools, high unemployment, low education levels, low income residents and poor management. Not somewhere that I would like to raise my children or take a chance with my life. The sad thing is that the government keeps pouring money into these areas believing or trying to convince the tax payers that it will solve the problems.

How sad. Sounds like if you don't get some politicains in your area who'll leave it alone and people who'll invest in new business there; the town will die. So sad.

So where is the money going to? If you are paying government to solve your problems, where are the programs that help?

There is a solution to high crime. NO TOLERANCE. End statement. Poor schools? One- make sure your teachers have degrees in the subjects they teach. Two- pay them a living wage enough to STAY there. Three- BACK THEM. WORK with them. Four-insist on nothing but academics; reject these stupid social programs. Four- take the side of the schools in matters of discipline and have a zero tolerance for bullying. Five- make the administrations of your schools accountable of how they spend TAXPAYER MONEY. Don't let them pull the wool over your eyes by fine sounding catagories that mean nothing. Six- Encourage children to learn. HELP them. Keep books at home. Talk about things intellectually, argue. Encourage questioning. And for PITY SAKE turn off the television. There is nothing wrong if you have no cable for awhile.

High unemployment? DON'T VOTE IN POLITICAINS WHO USE BUSINESS AS CASH COWS. And seek business that is willing to work with workers to help retrain them when the market disappears for their particular product or service. It's fine to be stable and you can STILL be halfway stable if you are constantly looking on how to improve things.

Poor management? I have nothing good to say about them except they should be dragged through the streets by their hands. There is NO room for arrogance.

THAT was just a nasty racist comment. I know quite a few "blacks" who are very intelligent and just as successful and with integrity. It's not the race; it's the subculture and the crap you see on t.v. catering to the young people. And face it; if you don't have anything FOR the young people and the future looks bleak; what do you expect?

really Florida? how come so many are fleeing to SC then ? High insurance, very few doctors taking medicare patients anymore....Florida isn't paradise all that much either. My neighbors in their early 80's move here from Florida 1 1/2 years ago...because they were wiped out 3 times due to hurricanes. I'd take SC over FL in a heartbeat.
