As a Native American I am always amazed by the white man's reaction to Wal-Mart. Whitey will run the wheels off of his car to drive to Wal-Mart and buy the cheap junk that are on their shelves and beg the Great Spirit to have a Wal-Mart in their midst and yet be surprized when the rest of the locally owned businesses in their community go broke because they can't compete.
I believe that the white man could greatly benefit from participating in the "Sacred Rite of Passage" rituals that I've written about on other posts. Then perhaps he would not do so many foolish things.

Ok well i guess your "Sacred Rite Of Passage" didn't do any good for your people!!! Maybe your ancestors should have sunk the boat instead of feeding them turkey...Sitting Bull

I was thinking about taking a vision quest to the video department when it opens.

WalMart is not good.
Make sure to put it far away from the main street shops.

When i lived there 5 years ago they said they were bringing in a walmart. Still not done. Same thing here we were told we would get a walmart here starting this summer, they haven't even started construction.

I guess those against Wal-mart would rather we risk our lives taking the chance of being killed in a car wreck by driving out of town to Liberal or Garden City to shop during bitter icy winters. There isn't anything wrong with shopping at home, but if the stores don't have much variety why should everyone be forced to support them? The world changes! And after the 1970s shopping centers, the 1980s shopping malls, people's shopping habits changed. Back in the 70s were business owners on Ulysses' mainstreet forbidding Gamble's department store or Gibson's for going in business near the drive in? Walmart isn't the best store in the world, but as remote as this little town is it would be a relief to those of us who have driven out of town for 50 years to get all of our shopping done. Walmart is little different than a modern day equivalent to Woolworth's, which I believe once had a store in Ulysses.

That is one of the stupidest posts I have ever read I am now dumber for reading it. There are places to shop here in town. You don't have to risk you life in the ice, MORON.

Not much of a job but at least they hire people. They always have what I want when I want it . They are always ready to help me out. I deliver to their distribiution centers. Gr8 place to deliver to. I wish you and your kind would just move into the 20th century. Mom and Pop places will go the way of the buggy whip companies and guess what...being Americans, I bet they will find something else to do, make or sell. In fact they could probably sell it to Walmart if they don't try to get an arm and a leg for whatever"junk" they have.
