I understand why there is a curfew in place. Parents, police, and other adults just want teenagers to be safe.

However it is a shame that a few bad kids have to ruin it for everyone. My parents have taught me well to be a respectable mature teenager. I don't drink, don't smoke, and don't break curfew.

Yet there are some occasions where a movie will run long or I have to take a friend home. Its a shame that I have to worry about being pulled over on my way home.

If a cop must pull me over for being under 18 and out late that is fine. But if I am not under any influence, not driving recklessly, and not causing any disturbance, can they not just send me on my way fine free?

You have not had life experience's with the police, I can see. 99.9% of the police in this country of our's are decent, helpful and doing there job to the best of their ability. The rest are power seeking, unlawful, thieves and criminals in uniform. They are out to use there "power" to get what they want or should I say deem what they feel is their's. Remember, every saint is a devil, and every cop is a criminal, and you will be alright. And remember green side up, over fifty never trust a fart, and when your girlfriend says she needs space, she is already dating someone else, same goes for your wife, boyfriend, etc. And if you kick your cat it will either crap or throw-up on something of your's. And last but not least remember,"How can you be two places at once, when you are really nowhere at all."

Curfews are ridiculous and un-fair, why should teens be ripped of their rights? I like to stay out late on weekends, and i do. regardless of curfews or not, i come home at 2 am some days, my mom doesn't think twice, I'm not a baby, i can make my own decisions. i know whats wrong and what's right. Curfews are infringements of rights.

why are is there a curfew time. there should not be a curfew time. kids should be able to do what ever they want to. if they do something bad then talk to them and if it happens again then tell there parents.
There is a curfew because I don't want creepy kids like you roaming my neighborhood at night.

I personally believe that if a minors intent is to commit a crime than theres not much a curfew can do, the only people that the curfew affects are children who dont intend to do bad things. The bad ones are out past curfew anyways. think about it. fuck the system

My old man made the rules about curfew and it was his house rules. You didn't disrespect my father.
Every home should have these rules then we wouldn't even need a curfew. There would be alot more kids with black eyes and broken noses but they would be showing respect.

Curfews don't stop a kid from drinking at home, or having sex at home, or sneaking his friends into the bedroom at night. does any of that stuff sound familiar to any adult preaching about curfews now lol.and how many told their parents they we're studying at a friends house , when they we're really out scoring some booze for a party at the friends house and the rest of their school pals lol. The thing is we aren't new york or los angeles , where they are a 24 hour city with much more things to do. cali has the sun, beach, and amusement rides and so does florida, and new york has the restaurants of any kind of food you fancy and also off broadway plays.so really not much to do in Indiana but a few sites around the state then at a certain time everything shuts down except maybe steak n shake lol.what I'm getting at if indy had more things for even teens too do, they wouldn't be so eager to break curfews and enjoy those teenage years.I guess my teen years we're bit boring i broke cyrfew a few times and paid for it big time lol, I did the sneak out lkate at night, had a few beers and whisky got sick came home there was mom as i threw up all over the place, I was playing rebel, the james dean way.I lived through it, and then wasn't many gangs around also.I couldn't go to any bats nearby for fear my own pop might catch me cause he bounced in them after work lol.and he had his lookouts for me. I just think once a teen gets to be 16, trust them, true they will make some mistakes, but don't get so worked up.

Not only a curfew needs to be enforced But parent accountability also, As in watch who your kids hang around with in the first place, If they are even an older family member whose not such a law abiding citizen, Influences can begin anywhere ,And often what a teen does is what they are taught at home, or who they hang around at school and after school.Parents need to strees to those teen kids I'm the parent, These are the rules, These can;t be broken or else you get punished.Too many are afraid of what the law will do to them. I say hand out family punishment justice, Then if the law comes forward, That's why we have lawyers and courts and judges.I grew up and saw so many teens out at all hours, And they had parents , yes most of their parents we're wasted on drugs and never grew up themselves . Thank you big daddy govt welfare state that created this mess. Why are our schools allowing tattooed teens to even play sports !!! Make a new rule , you got ink you stink and can't play That should be applied at the college level also, I see so many young teens as young at 12 now getting piercings all over and tattoo's it's sickening too see. Where are the parents?

I think you need to reattend school.
It makes sense for us teens to have curfews, but I for one can say that I have exceeded them on several occasions without parental consent. As I walked down the sidewalks, Ive had the police light shined on me. I was 15, luckily I look older, and therefore, they left me be. Now Im 17, and look at least 23.
Case in point, us teens do bad things and need to have some sort of curfew. Not that the police can catch every single teen out after dark, but it still keeps some sort of order.

They don't, the law says after 1am or BEFORE 5am. This means teens cannot be out between 1 am and 5 am---not that teens in this towns can be out after 1 am

Maybe if some of you went to bed earlier, you would be more alert when spelling and grammar are being taught.

I am looking at this because I am doing a report for school and alot of you have good points. Me personally I DONT belive in cerfews they suck! When I go out with friends I have no freedom (on thoes rare occasions my mother lets me out of the house)I dont know if parents dont trust us teens but I wish there was no cerfew.
Although this topic, curfew was seven years ago, I hope by now you understand that it is to protect the kids. Depends where you live but there are areas and teens that can not make good choices. You may be a person that could be street smart but remember there are drugs, alcohol, and guns. You and others will have freedom and be able to be out late and by now that probably is you.
