Two Shot, One Dead In Gang-Related Shooting In Cicero

Members of the same gang are fighting with each other. A 19-year-old man is dead and another man was wounded just days before his birthday in a gang-related shooting Friday night in west suburban Cicero, authorities said Saturday. via WBBM-AM Chicago

In My last posting I didn't write my name. I just wanted it to be known that Sonny Miranda WAS NOT A GANG MEMBER... I attended Sonny's wake on Tuesday and It killed me to see him in a casket. I've known Sonny since kindergarten and now he's just a memory. He will be missed dearly. My condolences go out to Zenna, Michael, Pauline, Edith, and the whole Miranda Family. We will never forget you Sonny. Live it up in Heaven, I know you will.

8 times out of 10? Really? Where'd you get your statistics? Just wondering because there are plenty of people that are killed in Cicero that are innocent bystanders and have nothing to do with gangs. Nobody said that the shooter was not in a gang, he probably was but honestly, Sonny was the victim. ANYONE that knew him can tell you that he was not a gang member. i am very sorry about your loss sonny miranda s life please do not not listen to the ignorant people who think that everyone shot in cicero is a gangbanger. i just buried my grandson , he was shot to death on 30th and laramie on march 17, 2007. he was my first grandchild and i miss him more than words could ever express.they never caught the killer, sometimes i doubt they even try. cicero police are former believe me. i am out everyday looking for information. i really want everyone of you to attend the ceasefire week especially the peace march on june 15 at 5 30 p m these little punks think shooting someone demostrates manhood i can teach a 4 year old how to pull a trigger.they cant fight, so they tathe sissy way out. stay stong we will get of them or die trying.thanks bev salinas

i was there the minutes those shots rang out,i lost my bestfriend at that my lil bro,the shooting was not gang related.Sonny was a neutron.meaning he had never joined a gang.but Grant Works/a part of Cicero is infested with gang activities.its to bad that we have to adapt to our community.i myself almost lost my life sevaral times.i could got shot when sonny died,we believed he saved our lives.the reason sonny was targeted was due to where he lived.not what he was about.the shooter did not even reside in cicero.They came from another town looking for some one to shoot.Sonny did not hate anyone he just disagreed with thier actions.SoNNy i miss u!

I'm very sorry to hear that another life has been lost in Cicero however in response to Rico....i moved from Cicero back in 92 and honey nothing has changed. Cicero has been gang infested since before i moved. I lost many many friends. So by you saying Cicero never used to be like this your dead wrong. I can name several victims from the past including my brother and our close family friend who was shot by some 15 year old punks back in 96 after i left that hell hole. My brother made it Rudy didn't. That place had gone to crap long ago. I pity the people who still have to live in that jungle. The town president from way back knew back then if they let certain businesses in Cicero this would happen and he was right. Look at the community now....what happened to the good decent Italian people? They all sold including my family. Who wants to live in that... really? When i went to elementary school in Cicero there was just a few hispanics...then in high school they started moving in rapidly and so did more and more gangs. In high school my father enrolled me in the West campus in Berwyn so i wouldnt have to go to school with all that. I am class of '91 so don't point the finger at the current town president the problem was already there when he put his foot in the door. It is the responsibility of every resident in the City of Cicero to force the gangs and violence out!!!

You can keep going my friend , I live in North Riverside and yes after North Riverside comes Westchester , Brookfield , La Grange Park , La Grange , because really ..... there is no buffer zone , every town is game , anyone can move anywhere they can afford to.

The other night I was walking my dog at 3am and saw one of my new neighbors who lives a block away for the first time , he came home after a night of joyriding in his Luxury SUV with his friends , they made some noise got out and went to their pimped out cars and left but I was like WTF , you just moved in not more than a couple of months and you're causing the worst impression on me , I don't know you but I already don't like you because you're destroying my peace of mind , had they not left and hung around , I would've called the Police.

Again I don't know this new town citizen but he made a bad impression on me , maybe his friends are just young and rambunctious and nothing more , I am not the perfect citizen nor is my property the best kept , but I am not offensive in anyway to those around me , I am chatty with every neighbor on my block and across the street , I mow the lawn on 2 properties besides mine and help my neighbors.

I don't play the race card and don't care if you're MEX - PR - Cuban - Central American - or any non-hispanic , just respect the people who live around you.

And Rico please do not omit La Grange from your heated discussions , all it takes is one ignorant family with a Gang-Banger looking son to move next to you to put you on edge , then you can move out central Illinois and live on a Farm when you get too paranoid.
