Why is it when the state has fiscal problems, they never talk about cutting the state workforce but just cutting aid & shifting costs to local governments & taxpayers ???

And most of us will get another state check in the mail soon. this is good for me but a joke as we are borrowing to pay for the extra REBATE. this is just another ploy by the pols during election year. Again, no one has the sack to straighten the state out and fix things. I will make a prediction that at least 100 teachers will be laid off in the city and the other districts will have increased district taxes before the state cuts any employees.
I know most state agencies now are hurting and I cannot imagine where the coin is even going.

They don't have the guts or stomach to cut thier own workforce but by shifting the burden to local governments, they have to either raise taxes or cut services which translates to layoffs at the local level !!!!

When Erie county had its "budget crisis" 4 years ago, they had to lay off over 1000 people. I haven't heard the state officials proposing laying off 1 person !!!!

Let's eliminate duplication in government, all of the authorities, take-home vehicles, cell phones and the list goes on. For some unknown reason these government employees seem to get pay and benefits well beyond what private employers can afford to give, so the taxpayers subsidizing these employees has to stop.

And last but far from least - why is it the government wakes up one day and finds itself out of money? My tax dollars are paying for all these economists, accountants, financial advisors and not one has enough sense to pourpiss out of a boot if the directions were on the heel. We all have to watch our finances on a daily basis to make sure we are not spending more than we are bringing in, then pay exorbitant prices to the government idiots than are too stupid to do the same thing.
