I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and obviously some of the other people posting here are familiar with the area too. Believe me - Wilkinsburg is the drive by shooting capital of the area, it is crime ridden, it is dangerous. It just happens to be all black. It is New Jack City. Prejudice and bigotry have nothing to do with these facts. No one black or white goes there unless they live there. Anyone from the 'burg will tell you this. It was a lovely middle class residential area (old home from late 1800's)that stayed pretty nice until the late 80's when more and more of the criminal element moved out of downtown and the Hill district to Wilkinsburg. I hear Penn Hills is now almost as bad.
