frogs and crickets

You can call a frog a cricket, but it doesn't make it any less a frog.
The town administration has decided that the Carriage House Lodge reception hall is a lodge hall and that its name makes it compliant with the zoning law, which expressly forbids a reception hall at its location, which is zoned neighborhood commercial.
A lodge hall is, according to state statute, the home of an organization established for the mutual benefit of its members and that organization is either a charitable or non profit outfit. The reception hall doesn't meet those requirements.
The zoning ordinance states that businesses in a neighborhood commercial district should be a benefit to the neighborhood. Hard to see how this thing is a benefit to any one but its owner, who, by the way, is not a charitable or non profit organization.
The zoning ordinance allows lodge halls, so the city attorney, city clerk and city housing commissioner shoved their interpretation that the right name is all that is needed down the throats of the planning commission to allow the reception hall to open. The commission was not even allowed to vote on the matter.
The sort of logic displayed by these people is nonsensical and the goal was obvious - bypass that inconvenient zoning ordinance so that the owner could have his way - regardless of the legality or lack thereof?
One has to ask the question - why is the city so hell bent on helping this guy? Who benefits?
Dont know

I would love to know those answers myself!!!!When I moved to CP, I was told this was CP USA,, i asked why??? The Fed Ex driver told me , because they make their own laws , own rules,I thought wow, this mam has a bone to pick with CP. Now I understand, he was so accurate, right on. CP , doesnot follow the law, they make it as they go along to suite themselves, what ever will benifit the person they are trying to please at that time or themselves. It takes people such as yourself, who knows the law and zoning to stand up to city hall and the mayor and to make a change in church point!!!!!!Anyway who the hell is this person? "The Carriage House", Da pizza point, LMAO...wheres this person from, here in CP?

Other than another law that someone put there to make someone else happy , it probly won't make much difference one way or another. if it was not a problem to have a business with daily traffic there , the occasional event probly won't be a problem either.
