Obvious maybe, maybe not. He had tossed in a gas canister of some kind when he entered, he was wearing a gas mask.(Advantage 1). People were coughing, screaming, jumping out of the way once he started firing into the ceiling, and the audience. Here's the problem of taking that first shot. People will be pushing, stepping over you, on you your kids to get away. The shooter appeared to have on a bullet proof vest like swat members wear (advantage 1), if you can see at all you will have to get him in the head, arms or legs when you fire or risk drawing return fire if you miss. The article I read said he came in through a emergency exit and was in front of the screen, I think he would have been obvious
With a .357 you have only 6 bullets before reloading, he has a shot gun, a rifle (mass murderers love automatics or semi autos) and auto handguns with extended magazines.(Killer advantage 3, 4, and 5) I respectfully suggest you upgrade your firearm to at least a .45 auto with extra magazines before shooting at someone armed with this many guns. You have to ask yourself does the killer have accomplices behind you or above on the second level in the theater who could return fire when you shoot. If you shoot at the killer are you prepared for return fire coming in toward you and any children that are near you?
For the rest of these racist, misogynist armchair cowboys who think they could have saved the day, I doubt you could win at playing paint ball without shooting yourself or your own team members. I really wonder what will be found in your basements and bunkers when the day comes. Maybe this is the kind of business Rogersville really needs, a training center for people to be taught when and how to safely and properly defend themselves with guns under any conditions and circumstances before they get a gun carry permit. Of course that sort of training is very helpful to mass murderers too.
