Are you going to support the Caters Valley Fire Dept.?

Still wondering if I will.
Seems everybody supporting the c.v.v.f.d. should start supporting the Surgoinsville Fire Department instead. Move them on up. Has everyone forgot we are the backbone here?

How can anyone reasonably support them money wise when they have made so many horrible decisions? Dating a 17 year old, or at least allowing the appearance of impropriety to continue, not one but several times. Refusing to have open honest discussion at public meetings, yet seeking to speak in private. What innocent person runs away without it looking like they are guilty? Before going with Surgoinsville make sure everyone has their priorities in order, and they are there to serve the public good, not their own private ambitions and desires. It might be a good idea to have the computers there monitored since any incriminating e-mails and files from CVVFD's computers have most likely been deleted.

I believe in C.V.V.F.D. you cant blame the whole dept for two peoples doings.I understand where most of you all come from but I can honestly say Carters Valley is the best.Just because their chief made bad decisions doesnt mean you have to punish the dept. They are very well trained firefighters who are volunteering to serve their community and make a diff and help people. Dont get me wrong i dont support the chief but i do his fellow firefighters...they are risking thier lives to help the comunity and everyone is making it out to sound like its the whole dept's fault!!

You guys should support the rest of the fire dept. There are some great guys in the fire dept and you shouldn't punish the rest of them because of what the Chief did. I don't hold the Fire Dept responsible for what happened to me just the board and a few others. I still have many friends in the fire dept and they have worked hard on the haunted forest and work hard day after day to keep the community safe.

How about we move all the good fire fighters from the c.v.v.f.d. to surgoinsville's fire dept. and just keep the bad ones at c.v.v.f.d. I am sorry if I came off as being against the whole dept. I meant just the shady ones.

Punishing the Fire Department because of 2 individuals is wrong:(
What many people may not know is a majority of the members are Firefighter 1 & 2 qualified, as well as vehicle extraction & EMT'S & 1st Responders.
They are all highly trained compared to other departments. I'm not making comparisons here.
What Im trying to say is, a majority of them, not just 5-6 of them are highly trained in many fields.
To the community, this is great news.
Just like other departments, they go above & beyond when they don't have to.
It's a shame to see them leaving for other departments, if they do, it shouldn't be just Surgoinsville, but any department in general, they will be a valuable asset to any dept.
Please don't punish or judge the department as a whole because of this..

Since the board of directors are blind and irresponsible, the rest have to suffer. They should have done what was right in the begining. Their judgment can no longer be trusted. Trust must be earned and maintained, it can never be bought. Maybe a solid foundation can be built this time, not a foundation built on lies and cover ups. Good luck to all those firefighters who still have their honor and dignity. Our prayers are with you.

i still have my honor but its hard to when the community is posting stuff all over the internet. im not saying chief yates decision is right by no means but at the same time everybody is looking down on the dept as if its thier fault...which in deed is not.im sick and tired of everyone bad mouthing carters valley its about time for this to be resolved and to let us get back to our normal lives...i will go ahead and tell you(the community)that if this isnt resolved they will be losing alot of highly trained firefighters...

I will continue to support CVVFD but not Mr. Yates or the BOD. This department has alot of GOOD members and they deserve our respect and support as they try to get through this ordeal. If Yates was a real man he would stop thinking about only himself and resign so that this fire department could get back on it's feet. It is obvious that the BOD is not going to do anything because they, like Mr. Yates, have no morals or values. Therefore, if Yates loves the fire department as much as he says he does he needs to step aside before all the GOOD members quit and go somewhere else then God help the community of Carter's Valley.

I will support the department, just not financially, and will not support Mike Yate's shinanigins and acts of illegal and damaging behavior. Mike Yates and the BOD's that tuck their tails and ran out of that department while the media was there needs to be replaced, no questions asked. Financially, I find it quite hard to donate hard earned money to a department that can't figure out what to do with a chief that makes it obvious he has broken a law, lost the trust of the community, the department's members and family. How could someone feel good about what he has done and have a clear conscious about that??? I wouldn't have a clear concious giving them money, because who knows what they would do with it. The department needs to have a vote of NO CONFIDENCE and he is gone from there if he doesn't want to step down. There are definitely enough members to support.
