On another note, I don't like tattoos but my husband is a Marine and he has three. He's looking to get more and I'm trying to talk him out of it. One of them, I have to admit, I kinda like. It's a bulldog with the American flag wrapped around him. Words don't do it justice. Horhay is speaking truth. Many people realize the facts regarding their own decisions and feel stupid about them but defending these poor decisions make some folks feel a little better about themselves and the irreversible nature of their youthful indiscretions. Tattoos and piercings DO make a statement.... and not a very positive statement outside of the College dorm or local coffee shop, of course.

No, you really aren't speaking any truth, just your opinion. Not every one feels like you say they do. My husband enjoys his tattoos and before you spout off about his mentality it's in fine working order. My ears are peirced. I have four holes, two in each ear. Used to have a peircing at the top of my left ear. I only let that one go because I sleep mostly on my left side and that peircing stayed infected. Are you saying that's trashy too? Do you think that was a "youthful indiscretion" on my part?

Earrings on a woman are quite different than weird eyebrow, lip, fishing lure piercings on males or females which are indeed indicative of a leisure suit, Jerry Springer mentality. One would certainly hope these choices were youthful indescretions as they serve no useful purpose.

I don't believe tattoos are anything different than ear piercings or any other permanent alteration to the physical body. There are misplaced stereotypes surrounding them.
But, they are adult forms of expression. Teens especially have no idea what their futures may hold and how such an action may harm them in the future.
I have several very close friends and relatives who have tattoos, most have multiple, as well as my husband. They were all adults when they decided to have them and appreciated the fact that society feels a certain way about them, regardless of how big a falsehood it is.
The girls should be held accountable for their own actions in one way or another.

This guy was just making money, who cares if they are under 18??? Piercings will heal and tattoos only hurt while you are getting one!! You only live once. Parents can't be with the children 247. You have to instill life lessons to them and hope that they do the right thing. As for your comment 'its only a tattoo and it only hurts while your getting it" by law, they parlor has to photo copy their drivers license, that protects them from doing under age tattooing. If your going to run a business better know the law and a tattoo is forever. Get a grip on your only live once BS!
