Well, well, after revamping the technology within the elections commission and purchasing those fancy new voting machines: the votes had to be counted by hand? I think the final results came in around 3 am or so. Also, there were no up-to-the minute results online like there have been in the past. I hear we need to thank Bill Justice for really straightening things out over there... way to go Bumbling Bill!

New technology huh? It seems they need somebody that knows somethingabout how to work the new stuff. I listened for election results on wrgs until the wee hours of the morning, still didn't hear nothing. I think taxpayer money was spent for nothing. Yeah, things really need to be straighten out, all the way out....It's time for a change also with the good ole boys in the election committee, don't know how they got there anyway. As for as new machines ...that's a crock. I'll be asking for the paper ballot next time. Don't know what was wrong with flipping the lever. Just another way to spend money I guess. "Bumbling Bill" and the good ole boys need to go...time for the young blood..

Seems they are still in need of equipment and the money to purchase it. Too bad the county had those delays and ended up paying out the extra $47,000 that could have been used to make the purchase. Expensive ball to drop! That might have something to do with the Mayor race being so close!

I personally love paper ballots or anything that can physically confirm how I voted. I'd like to have a copy of my ballot to take home as proof how I voted just in case. You never know when entire districts can be lost electronically. With paper ballots you have a back up. Why do you think so many people vote absentee ballot?

Before everyone gets all giddy over paper ballots, remember all the issues with fraud and cheating that can (and have) occured with them.
Given all the reports we've seen with poll workers carrying boxes of ballots in the trunks of their cars for weeks (Minnesota just recently, for example) and pollsters with agendas, human "error" enters the picture far too often.

Hanging chads, anyone? Got no use for punch cards, either.

I never had thought about absentee voting, but I've always had a little mistrust of anything electronic.Could a hacker get in the system? Didn't one hack into the Pentagon? The paper ballots, even with their flaws, make me feel better.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
