Who would contribute to rent a billboard in Greeneville to display the names of the commissioners that support the tax increase in the vote on Monday? I will pay HALF, if we can raise the rest. The taxpayers voted down a tax increase, now some commissioners want to force one on us. Let's force them to go home. Don't forget BILL MOSS is proposing the increase.

I think we should call the IRS on each commissioner and have them personally audited.

Of course they don't care about tax increases, they probably aren't paying their taxes anyways.

And $10 is nothing compared to the $100-$300 property tax increase the average homeowner is going to pay after the commissioners vote it in tomorrow.

I agree that all of those who vote yes for a tax increase to give salary increases should be remembered and sent home when it comes election time. Also, those who might have goals of running for a bigger office be monitored and remembered in 2014.....(HOLT & CRUM). Kiker has to be sent home next time. The redistricting should get her and Quillen

Oh lest we forget, exactly one year ago... "In addition to the 1.6 percent raise, the school board will give all employees a $500 bonus before Christmas this year, they deserve this" says school board chairman Roger Jones.

http://www.greenevillesun.com/Local_News/arti...

The school board knew they were headed for catastrophe in 2012, but still yet they chose to spend without consequence in 2011, and our commissioners allowed it to happen.

$500 bonuses eight months ago and closing schools today. Where is the accountability?

I like how our fine sheriff used his scare tactic in yesterdays paper. "those planning to attend mondays meeting should leave themselves plenty of time to go through the metal-detection securtiy screen at the entrance to the courthouse". Nothing more than a scare tactic of our fine honest county government.

School contract staff were told that if they attended the meeting and said anything negative ,there could be concequences up to and including termination.

I am a school employee and this is not correct. This topix website is perfect for those of you who like to stir up controversy and post half truths and lies. No accountability. I've been reading several postings about the commission, school board, and schools and have found several inaccuracies.

The sad fact is that our town needs money to offer the services that the citizens expect. And the money the town uses to fund these services are from taxes. Greene County pays one of the lowest tax rates in the state. Many counties are having to raise taxes.

I hope they all vote for a tax increase. It's time that our county came into the 21st century.

Reba obviously works with Jan. I'm 100% for a better school system and a more productive county government. I'm 100% for increasing taxes to reach these goals. Unfortunately, the county leaders, especially the school board and the commission, would only waste any additional revenue. This administraion has made numerous poor decisions and proven they are poor managers. Why would we give them an increase?

Let's vote in a competent governing body and then discuss tax revenue.

This tax increase is not for better school, better co gov, or to keep Glenwood open. Look at the facts....this tax increase if for RAISES. Go to the public hearing and ask the budget committee. Ask them how much of this proposed twenty cent tax increase is going for employee raises. HOW CAN THE CITIZENS LET THIS HAPPEN?????

Almost every penney will go to increases salaries and benefits. I heard tonight that 10 commissioner's are going to vote for the tax increase. I can't believe it. Most all of them have some tie to education. Moss's business does the audit for Greene County Schools. He shouldn't even be allowed to vote. Greene County schools pays Rodefer and Moss for work done for them. I also heard that teachers are going to try to get there early to get all the seats so noone else can speak. Better call your commissioners early.

How much will it cost to get a billboard? I have talked to some people willing to pay on it. They just need to know how to get the money to a legitimate person to do that. While we're at it we need to put the names of the director and school board members who voted on this budget. The deficit came from them.

You can thank your director, chairman and any board member who's so greedy that they could care less unless you're a teacher and get paid for 12 when they do 9 months of work. It's all about raises that benefit them or their families. They don't care about the rest of the employees.

They better get there early. Hear the teachers are going to try to get there real early to get the seats so others can't speak.
