The band and music program was cut..but band was brought back and now I've heard that it has been suspended once again.Does anyone know why? Does anyone know what is going on?The school doesnt want to give any straight answers, only that kids at FIS were to return any instruments they have.

To Johnny Ringo:
You must not own any property in W. F. School District. My 2012 property taxes due in 2013 of a gross tax bill of 2,800.00
$1470.00 went to District 168 schools. OVER 50% One of the higest
tax rates in the State.

Thats not what I said.
Less than 10% of the school's subsidies came from local property tax. It has nothing to do with what percentage of your bill went to education. The fact is, Franklin county pays shockingly little of what it takes to run a school district.

ah ha you are a smart one, duh, yes I have followed the thread but the programs that were cut at the start of school were paid positions, the last attempt to have band were volunteers from my understanding, now does anyone know what happened?

Here's a fact. Franklin County has the 2nd higest real estate tax rate per $1000.00 of assesed valuation in the State. Only St, Clair County (East St Louis) is higher. Wonder why we can't get an industry here.

Clearly your calculations are misconstrued. Attempt to view tax-rates.org and try again.

It is a law that they have to be posted in a certain amount if time but that has not been happening.
