Many government agencies base their employees pay on performance. Inotherwords, if the students aren't excelling, the teachers don't receive within grade increases, promotions or pay increases ! Has anyone been looking at the Illinois Interactive School Report Cards ?

After reviewing the interactive school report card it is apparent someone is not doing their job. What can we do? Most of the people in charge are hired via the good ole boy network. Do any teachers EVER get fired ? Isn't Coach Gischer still working at Christopher HS 2 1/2 years later ?

The majority of students come from economically disadvantaged households. Sometimes that environment makes for a difficult learning situation. Let's help our educators come up with ideas to help the kids !

Isn't it funny how certain things come to fruition ? Recent National News about connecting teachers pay with the schools performance. I guess we just might have some people around here that know what there talking about ! Too bad the school board is too busy doing whatever they do !? What's next...4 day school week, uniforms....? Maybe if they were more concerned with the kids than their pay raises !

Many school districts have already instituted pay for performance. Eventually it will happen here. Testing teachers will hapen sooner, it is on ISBE's platter as we speak.

Yes I think teachers should be paid based on success of students just after young people are given a future based on the amount of help and encouragement and guidance and parenting they get from their parents!!

Exactly!! Some parents just send their kids to school and expect them to come home and be intelligent and respectful. When that doesn't happen, they blame the teachers. Most kids are a reflection of their parents and the environment live in.

Really, leave teachers alone. I am a prison guard and make more than all teachers and most school officials! I have a better pension, retirement, and don't have to deal with idiot parents like who post on here. Oh! And I can retire at 50! It's obvious someone is sitting at a computer jealous that they did not do something better with his life and is trying to take it out on the people who take care of his kids! LMAO

Are those salaries right? The pay scale was no where NEAR that about five years ago. It topped out around $60,000 and paid around $30,000 to new teachers. Where did that info come from?

Even if the salaries are right, the teachers are worth every penny and MORE. Most people have no idea how hard teachers work and how much good they do for kids, only to be put down by lots of people in public forums such as this. Thanks to those who are supporting the teachers.

Those salaries have all the insurance benefits, retirement, and salary in it. Plus all of the extra time they may be paid for if they coach, tutor, or do detentions.

Oh, well no wonder they seem so muh higher than I knew they were. Benefits are usually worth loads of money that people don't have in hand.

Please call your school board and thank them for those rediculous salaries. Don't we live in a very low cost of living area. I bet the post is deleted before the day is out !! I wonder who will do it ???? Hmmmm....

You're RIDICULOUS (note the spelling). Yes, it is a low cost of living area, but most things people pay (student loans, groceries, gas, etc.) are the same cost pretty much everywhere. So Christopher teachers should get paid less than teachers everywhere else because their mortgage payments might be $100 less than if they lived somewhere else? Oh, FYI--Check out how much less teachers in Christopher make compared to those doing the EXACT same job in Belleville or Marion or Carbondale. Christopher teachers deserve every penny they earn. Nowhere else will a town full of people argue that teachers make too much. I thought it was common knowledge that teachers are some of the most underpaid professonals considering the education they have.

Wind of change?!? I smell a load of crap you are blowing. I don't even need a college education to do my job and I make more than the teachers and administration you are complaining about! Grow up, get a job, and quit complaining!
