Great suggestion. Certainly not enough time to make that change this year, but I invite you to join us at our meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Sam Mitchell building to make your case for next year.

I load and unload several trucks and trailers every day.Last year we had 11 semis to unload on Main Street during that week.Looking at my sales for that weekend over the last few years We are wasting our time .Our. Customers have no place to park.We do not plan on ending up like BFJ. I will be working tomorrow and hopefully into the evening doing my delivers. So please relay my request.Thank You

I'm sorry the 3 day festival has had an adverse effect on your business.. You will have plenty of opportunities to attend a meeting next year and make your case heard. The festival will move forward as planned this year downtown..

I wish it was back out at the park.....it was the atmosphere there that everyone loved. Downtown is dirty and hot. We won't be back this year.

No it wasn't a mud pit when I attended....it was a great setting....places to sit out of the midway and visit with people, arranged nicely, bathrooms, park setting, and my family is not the only family who agrees!

The city has been lucky up to now.911 calls are delayed for the entire 7 days before and during Old king coal.Just a few extra minutes could cost a live. The City and the OKC should look at other options for location

If soooooo many people want it back at the park why don't you go to their meetings?? They are in the paper. They have to do it if you get a petition to the city.

I did enjoy the festivities at the park. But downtown isn't so bad either. Didn't care for it at the VF mall. Seemed like any other fly by night carnival set up in the region. Nothing special then or there.

What I would like to see though is the return of the several booths from local churches and organizations; Moose, Elks, Masons, etc.; offering their baked goods, foods, and games or other activities to show what all West Frankfort has to offer as a community and for the community and those people involved with those entities. Regardless of where it is held.

The carnival gets here the Sunday before it starts and it is gone the following Monday so actually they are here almost 8 days. The roads are blocked off for blocks, traffic around those blocks for the businesses is a joke. Try going to the post office or the Dr. Office at old firehouse! Parking...ha
I do like the idea of home baked goods! I will certainly be talking to the ladies at church Sunday to see what we can " cook" up.
I understand it is settled for this year so please everyone lets get some ideas rolling & talk about it for next year. Something that would work for everyone.

I don't mind the festival downtown. Not like it's a thriving business district but what traffic does come to visit gets to see what businesses are left and hopefully stop and shop some.

Other than location I wish it would be moved back a few more weeks. There needs to be more of a break between the DQ State Fair and OKC. I understand a lot of it has to do with the midway ride company. But I wish it could be moved to the end of September maybe even early to middle October.

Save some money. Get tickets in advance at Krogers or Heights Maerket.
Thursday and Sunday are Family days and all rides are just one ticket..
Hope to see you there.
