Anybody know any nice inexpensive places for an outdoor wedding? Our wedding is at the end of august so I'm running out of time and could use some suggestions. Our wedding is small just close friends and immediate family so nothing to extravagant.

How about a shelter at Rend Lake or Wayne Fitzgerald? You have plenty of time to reserve one before August.

Do you known how to reach the person in charge of that and an estimate on cost?

Google is your friend.

This is for North Sandusky. There are other areas available. North and South Marcum are other areas that have day use areas.$25 per day. Wayne Fitzgerald availability can be checked at the park office.

Von Jakob in Union County is gorgeous..there is a terrace overlooking the vinyard where the ceremony can be held. I don't think it's terribly expensive and it's quite intimate.

DuQuoin State fairgrounds has a bridge over water and gorgeous scenery as well. The dam at Rend Lake spillway is also an idea. There is an old ampitheater with seating and 2covered shelters. Good luck and congrats!!

I know you want an outdoor venue but a great "just in case place" (bad weather) is the old West Frankfort Firehouse. I went to a wedding there and it was beautiful.

Thank you bridesmaid I will definitley look into that I haven't even been considering bad weather and that would be a complete shame. Thankyou for the wonderful suggestions everyone!

You can rent a big white tent from several places in case of bad weather (maybe $500 ) which is a chunk of money if you don't need to use the tent. August is a pretty dry month, so you should be alright outside. Outdoor weddings are always a little bit of a gamble with the weather (check the Farmer's Almanac for your date), but the pictures are absolutely worth it !!

There is a new place in Carbondale called the Wedding Garden. Gorgeous! Field of Dreams also is one.

Twin oaks is really pretty here in Benton out on Hamilton lake.(Very small lake) it's gorgeous there. I have been in a wedding that was there. You could have a wedding outside by the lake and have your reception in the building they have. It's a little white cabin like building that is adorable. They just put a new roof on it and it has a big fire place inside with a big long bar. It's super romantic with big open windows you could keep open whole having the reception and there is also a fire pit outside if you wanted a fire at your reception. It is very little money and absolutely adorable and very romantic for a August evening wedding by tr water. I would look into it!

@Megan, My boyfriend and I ate dinner at Giant City Lodge this evening..the whole time I was thinking what a gorgeous place to have a wedding. In August, the scenery would be beautiful in the park.

Oh I never thought of giant city! We were thinking about a small ceremony at garden of the gods I haven't been there in a long time but I remember seeing a couple weddings take place there and always thought it would be a gorgeous backdrop. Its a drive but it could be worth it. Gonna have to take a trip out this summer to check it out again see if it appeals to me as much as it used to.

I've always thought the dale miller youth area at Rend Lake would be a beautiful place to have a wedding, there is a private beach a large building you could use for reception food, also there are several cabins guests could stay in!
