That would be great for down town business. No parking for our customers so they stay away.We need to keep our police and firemen able to get to Main Street. Hopefully you can work out something with the park.Good call and good luck.

Come to a meeting and make a case. The first one will be in February. The committee doesn't look to TOPIX.COM for decision making information. Based on the number of positive comments we have received I'm sorry to say your the minority.

They outdid themselves again this year. They even got the weather right. We took my son through the carnival and it was soo much cleaner than duquoin. I wish they would do wrist bands, but it was nice to have a night when everything was a ticket. As for the business owners I didn't even see any of them open except for Jason York..

when it was at the park, people complained when it rained it was muddy, when it was at the VF mall, people complained cause the black top was hot, no grass. no shade... is that all anyone on here does is complain?. I think its good down town. It may be helping local business, have you actual asked them.... why not cancel it all together?

I noticed at least one local business took advantage of the extra traffic. And another took the liberty of letting the Justice For Molly folks set up shop.
Bottom line: Businesses need to take advantage of the extra traffic and not look at it as an inconvenience.

They are planning to have it in May next year. Horrible timing, in my opinion.

I agree.
It should be more like Herrin fest where you can be surrounded by drunken idiots while you enjoy the entertainment that you had to pay for.
Offering free entertainment and keeping the alcohol confined to private property adjacent to the stage is just asinine. And furthermore, I think the voices of three or four loud mouth opinionated chronic complainers should far outweigh that of not only the less than twenty volunteers that have been pulling the festival together for 10 years, but the thousands of people who enjoy the festival every year.
A few people have doomed it to failure on Facebook, lets just do away with it.

Hence that is why it is separated from the rest of the festival, It is a shame that so many bitch about so much, they ask for volunteers EVERY year, so instead of bitching, step up and do something about it!

People just complain to hear themselves talk, they like the sound of their own voice.
