Innocent until proven guilty yes, but if this was John Q Public, he would have been detained, questioned, and probably cited for obstruction and or tampering. That's my two bits anyway.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT !!! The law does not serve us all equally. That is the exact reason so many people are upset about this investigation.

I agree that he should have been. The whole thing is sketchy, I get that. But I also think it's being blown WAY out of proportion.

IT WAS A SUICIDE! This guy woke up, from a drunken stupor, to a young woman, whom he loved, dead on the floor. HE REACTED TO A SUICIDE. I'm sure he wasn't thinking about the possibility of being implicated in her death. He probably wasn't thinking he should NOT wash his hands after attempting to clear her airways of blood. He probably wasn't thinking he should not move the body (roll her over) to attempt CPR.
She did not have bruises on her forehead. She had a mark at the site of the gunshot - from the gunshot. She did not have scrapes on her side. She did have a couple old bruises on her thigh and foot but...she had attempted suicide, with pills, the previous night. Perhaps, she fell against something after becoming groggy. She did have DNA from 3 different males under her fingernails and yes, one was believed to be Richie Minton's. Maybe she scratched him while helping him pull off his shirt while changing for bed. Who does the other DNA belong to?
He did not wait 4 hours to call 911 - he asked his room mate to called as soon as he woke up and found her. His parents and attorney were not at his residence before the police. In fact, they arrived at the Carbondale police station after the 911 call - actually, I believe, after Richie arrived. I would also imagine they treated him like a suspect and read him the Miranda Rights - you know the one that includes...You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future - hence, the presence of an attorney.
I would guess he doesn't talk because: 1) he honestly doesn't know what happened - he slept through it, or woke up when she fired the gun, looked around a dark room and figured it was nothing to be concerned about and then went back to sleep. He did live in an apartment bldg. I'm sure hearing noises from neighbors was nothing unusual. 2) He doesn't have to talk to anyone, other than those he has already spoken with, about the incident.
And most importantly, If it was a well orchestrated cover-up and he had 4 hours to cover his tracks...why in the world wouldn't he have disposed of the body and reported his gun stolen? Oh, I know why...BECAUSE IT WAS SUICIDE!

You say the whole thing is sketchy but is being blown way out of proportion. That is contradictory. If this was your sister with the same scenario what would you think.. Truly.. What would you do?? This would not be the first time someone in law enforcement or associated with law enforcement was given a pass. I have mixed feelings about the information with this case also but then I think if this was my family I would want another investigation. My close friend is in law enforcement(not in this area) and I have discussed some of this with him and he also thinks something is amiss. I also think that hostility is not the way to take care of any situation.

He called 911,sounding more than ok,told the operator that his girlfriend commited suicide and then decided to move the body to perform cpr. Why?! Why did he have his roomate call 911 and then take the phone? Maybe because his roomate was distraught, not knowing his own address, and calling his apartment a living facility!? Who does that?! Why was womack obviously upset but minton was not? The one he loves is in his floor dead!! Why did his clothes not have vomit on them? Why did his boxers have blood splatter? You touched a few things but so much more than that needs answers!!

Yes, I feel there are too many things that have to be (in your words) "explained away". Usually when a person doesn't act in a certain way(such as you would expect) when there is a horrific situation such as this they are not being completely truthful. I do agree with many that have voiced their opinions on here that something just doesn't seem right.

You can't be on a jury trial if you have knowledge of the person on trial. But you can have an investigation and have knowledge.?? I do not know what happened and no one will for sure except for the two that were there. I remember the Drew Peterson case. Another woman had to go "missing" before the case was properly investigated.

He wasn't demoted. He was transferred out of investigations into a supervisor in the trooper division. It's actually a promotion. Just like new ISP hires start out as troopers, new ISP supervisors start out supervising troopers.

Southern Illinois is close enough. I know of a couple shady things that have gone on around here. Not just Franklin County.

This has nothing to do with who thinks what of her family or Minton, just that a proper investigation is done.

No. JFM does not want a "proper investigation". They want a "crucifixion". And they don't want any more skeletons let out of their closets in the meantime.

It doesn't matter what JFM wants but hopefully what everyone gets is a proper investigation.

Too many people are worrying about skeletons in closets. Just let the justice system do their duty and quit trashing everybody. Not Molly's fault if she was mistreated but, that has nothing to do with seeking the truth.
