This is what she's basing her campaign on with all of the serious challenges our City faces? She is pathetic.

Who wants to believe in a god that would be 'dishonored' by the lack of a display? Doesn't that seem a little....unlikely??

This is not about God or creation. This is about pushing an agenda. So let's start with having a caveman riding a dinosuar as the star exihbit!

I'm a transplanted Okie (Tulsa) now living in Okehampton England. As a younger "30 something" christian, I diligently worked as a docent at the Tulsa Zoo. I quit that much loved job because I was told I "WAS REQUIRED" to teach evolution as a fact not a theory while conducting tours, and using creationism to balance my illustrations during my educational talks simply would not be tolerated. It was seen as "confusing" my audience. Heartbroken, I chose to leave rather than compromise my beliefs.

Apparently the issue is still the same and I'm wondering what the powers that be are afraid of in allowing this exhibit? Would it perhaps be an admition of truth? Heaven forbid!!!!

Wow. I am very confused. I am a christian. I love God and believe that we should honor him with everything we do. However, I woul much rather hear what a candidate for Mayor has to say about our financially stricken city. There is a church or religious reminder on near every major corner in the city. I do not believe that people should be that concerned about the Zoo not advertising Christianity. They speak of the Budist being represented at the zoo. By what? An elephant. Imagine that, and elephant statue at the zoo. Lets focus on rebuilding our city and protecting our childrens future. Then we should talk about Christianity at the Zoo, you know, with the "animals".

Is every nut case in the nation now running for public office or denouncing the few rational politicians we have left? While this is mild, compared to Sarah Palin's lies, it is damaging to the science education of our children (and, therefore, to the future of this nation) to promote fiction such as Creationism.

Aren't there bigger issues to solve in Tulsa than worrying about what's being taught at the zoo? Crime & Infrastructure seem to always come to mind.

There are cavemen there. This country feels anyone EXCEPT Christians can have religious freedom. Christians have to hide their religion and can't discuss it because they are infringing on the rights of others. What about their rights???? People are denying those rights to anyone who espouses any of the Christian religions. If creationism cannot be displayed, then neither should Ganeesh(sp). It should be open to any culture or none. Evolution is a rejection of religion. They have not PROVEN that people are an offshoot of monkeys, yet we are forced to accept this theory. We have genetic similarities to many animals. Pig heart valves are used in transplantation because our bodies accept them. Pig skin is also used in the treatment of burns. Dogs are used for medical testing because their bodies are similar to ours and react the same as ours in many ways. Does that mean that we are a combination of all those animals? No I don't believe that either, but I choose to believe the Christian tenets. They have withstood thousands of years. They must have something to them. Yes there were times in Christian history of which we should be ashamed. All cultures have those time. All people have those times. No one is perfect. I do, however believe we who call on the name of Jesus, without using profanity, should have the same rights as any other group. If you don't want a specific group to have rights because you don't agree then our country is doomed because eventually all the different cultures will begin to fight worse than they already do. Our country with its so-called freedoms that only apply to specific people will die. I see people claiming that the Congress is taking away our freedoms. I see people in general taking away our freedoms.

She's pushing this idiocy in order to distract voters who might figure out she has nothing real to offer. Even Christians have to recognize how absurd this is, and if they do not, then I feel sorry for America.

I'm a Christian, though I guess I should start referring to myself as a "follower of Jesus" because folks like this and some of the posters here make me embarassed to be lumped in with them.
The creation story can be true without being factually accurate. Besides... which story do you use? The first or the second account of creation? Very different stories. I guess it is the one that fits your agenda at the time?
It's funny too, that the creation myths are stories of Israel's history, not God's; yet we rarely hear many Jews pushing to have the creation stories pushed on everyone as fact. At best, attempts like hers annoy me. I agree with others here: there are bigger fish to fry in this year's mayoral race than "creationism vs.[insert other view here]."

So you quit your job because they forced you to educate people on underrated things like scientific facts backed by overwhelming proof and evidence, and yet, something tells me that you wouldn't have such a problem if, instead, they made you tell everyone that a magic man in the sky snapped his fingers to make all the animals, and its true cause it says so in a old book. I smell hypocrisy, or maybe just idiocy, maybe a little of both.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
