Who owns the various related equipment utilized by the 'volunteer fire departments" and the 'emergency services' throughout Washington County? What governmental entity holds title to that/those equipment?

Gee... I wonder where all the volunteer fire personnel are; or the emergency services personnel? They should certainly know who holds title to the equipment that they USE. Come on folks... certainly someone in the County knows who owns all of that equipment.

Well that certainly is not the response I was hoping for, but your honesty is commendable. It shows that you, like myself are curious to know 'who owns that equipment' or 'who holds legal title to that equipment'.

Hang around. Who knows, maybe someone with some real knowledge on the subject will drop in and provide the correct answer. Thanks for the input.

Any and all that is claimed to be in the holding of the various volunteer fire departments and the emergency services in Washington County Florida. In other words, if the various properties/equipment is thought to be the property of the particular agency, then there has to be a title to said properties. Who has that/those titles and whose name is that/those titles listed under.

Then you are suggesting that if the fire chief were to quit, get fired, or otherwise leave his position, then the property that you allege is in his name would leave with him? Remember, we are not talking about personal property, but rather property that is essential to the operation of the department.

BTW "think before you post": Did the fire chief pay for that property that you allege to be in his name with his own money?

Why don't you just ask which ever dept your concerned about who owns what. Meaning the chief. The eoc or the bocc instead of asking strangers on the Internet who probably don't know either

Well it is like this. I have reason to believe that there are some on this forum who are people in the know regarding the information that I am seeking, and I further believe that they are cowards and are afraid to speak out because of the possibility of self incrimination. True, some of those people may be 'strangers' to me personally, however they are not strangers to the subject matter.

It would be nice to return to previous records when RH was emergency DIRECTOR and fired PH was CA.It was a time when volunteer FDs threatend to close their doors and TAKE the equipment with them.It was a time when nobody knew what equipment every FD had. There was no inventory and what qualification every VF had.The list is too big so you asked the same what was asked 5 years back and still there is no answers but there was a Tv camera and big hootzpah about spending 350$ for helmet and some flash lights. Why everything is so quiet right now?maybe of EMERGENCY?

Vfd's belong to the county.. they are funded by the county.. the equipment they buy with said monies belongs to the county.. BUT Vfd's do have fundraiser, receive donations, etc etc to buy additional equipment, as I see it it belongs to the firehouse doing the purchasing, it does not belong to any one entity. In the long run it is passed down to the next firechief/firemen as a working tool for all in the firehouse. Technicality
makes the working equipment part of couty property under the "receivership" of the equipment by said firehouse.M

a vehicle has to be registered in somebody's name, it usually goes to the chief, for he is the head honcho. When a new chief is made it gets changed into his. It's just a move to continue!!!

It's good to some of the comments where some of you are posting how you believe things should be done or owned, etc. The truth is that most is far from accurate. Many of the departments have been set up as corporations or LLCs and some in the chief's personal name(s) and there is Washington county purchased equipment (trucks too) that are titled to those entities and not Washington County. I read someone mention liability; consider this, All of the departments and all of the volunteers with all of the questionable training, certifications, lack of records and documentation are ALL on the Washington County workman's comp policy. That is a huge deal when you consider who will be responsible when there is a wreck and somebody is killed, but what do I know?
