The planning Department for Washington County Florida has begun holding workshops/public hearings to make amendment changes to the Future Land Use Maps. What is Rural Estates? This is the counties way of taking more control over your property, it limits, many things to the homeowners. such as, garages, animals, what type of home you can build, where you can build it on your property, and etc... This means for you horse owners, you will be made to be compliant before you can resale your property...aka get rid of your beloved animals. Life as you know it is going to change, unless people start speaking up and out! Taxes are high already, roads are poorly maintained, they scream broke, and yet us the tax payers are being mislead by those in charge. Attend all meetings, Planning Commission meets next the first Tuesday in April!

It's not the planning commission members...it's the county planner. He came here from Collier County and is "improving" Washington County...we will soon be known as"north collier county". Call your county commissioner if you are unhappy with the direction our planning office is headed. Call your planning commission member...I just spoke with mine...they need your input. Go to the meetings and workshops...speak up. If you don't stand up and confront this county employee (paid with your tax dollars) now you will lose your right to complain. From what I've been told...regardless of what he is directed to do OR what he tells you he will do he does what he damn well pleases. Makes you wonder why Collier County got rid of him. Hmmmm...

It seems like the Senior Planner is hell bent on changing this county for the benefit of developers only and not the current residents that sign his paycheck with our tax dollars. Any of you who attend these workshops and meetings will see for yourself how many times he condradicts himself. His presentations lack clarity, understanding and truthfulness. Rural Estates is nothing more than an infringement on the rights of current property owners. When DeRuntz pays my feed & vet bills he can dictate how many horses and other animals I can own.

I agree with you and Curious. He has a tendancy to not tell the whole truth. Lord only knows what he has already slid past the planning commissioners and county commissioners. He is a big city bureaucrat...thinks we're all stupid. All this man is doing is building his resume so he can move on...but we will pay for the damage he leaves behind. I heard there was a formal complaint filed against him...anyone know anything about it?

In WC county commissioners and others play their own game.Always pretend they are thinking but the decisions are made just in first meeting behind the closed doors.Look at Rhythm,CC posponed!!!!and postponed!!!and...it was obvious to citizens it would pass.Look what happened with CA.PH got drunk in different county .I bet if it was in WC he would be still CA.Next -business sense, water fountain man puts WC in deep hole.Fired EP who got a big chunk of taxpayers money.NOBODY talks but everybody knows. And they complain about citizens input. How much you can say in 3 min and during that time you are interrupted.Even FBI did NOTHING .Where are the results of FBI investigation.Don't we pay those agents too?

Why does Jim T. from sunny Hills, have input into the doings and runnings of county business? Is he on the pay roll?

Does Jim T still get a 15 minute private meeting with DeRuntz every week or did that end when Rhythm DRI was approved? Are the meetings between DeRuntz and Jim T public info? Who is really behind the push for Rural Estates? Jim T stated it has been in the works for the last 18 months. How much more money WILL this land change COST the tax payers? Those new maps can't be free.

Seems to me there is a big supprise for the residents of WC.I'm watching Merial Lake, the developer builds more homes, Rhythm pushed and pushed-finally they got what they wanted, slot machines-in 2 months everything was done, nobody cares about Bondi, religious fanatics, now they are changing the maps.At first WC is a sleepy holow, don't be supprised the big bussines comes to WC.Looks like.

I'm all for big business in the right areas of WC. It is the land changes increasing population densities while ignoring bringing JOBS to this county that grips me.

What grips me is MONEY.I think we have no idea what is going on behind closed doors. If CC complain it is so hard to be CC why they want to be re-elected.Once is enough don't you think so?Another example, during voting for slots machine one lazy leech from SH got huge donation for CIV ASS.Wonder if any members of that group saw the money and if really it was for civ ass or private use by con man.Somehow there are ppl who "work"FOR the community and WITH the community and they think they shud get some financial reward, besides the first flyers in his monthly propaganda rag was NO to slots machines !!!And that is my grip.

Don't give a crap about JT or Rhythm or any other
land developer. This county is not able to sustain
a family enviroment for the people. How can you live here, work here, spend here when there is no infrastructure to rely on? Developments come and go, let them try to succeed in the county, they cannot do it. A few fools will always buy but in the long run it will be a bust. Just like all the small stores and shops that have been started in Washington County, they all fold. The entire population of 14,000 people cannot even support what we have. Retirees want services that are established, they don't want to hear "it will be built" they have the "SHOW ME" mind and I can't blame them. Why sink savings into something that "may be". Rhythm is a big farse.

Seems to me you are mad at yourself because you have property here and you can't sell and move out.I bet if economy was good you will have a different attitudes.I don't care about JT or Rhythm either. This county doesn't want to change and every election we elect wrong ppl because of family connections, promisess.Retirees want services that are established but before they are established you have to have ppl who stop by.In front of our eyes we are going to see what new developer is going to do,build some "established services"or simply build few homes and runs away.Agree, Rhythm is big farse .First of all:who in such economy can afford to retiree at 55.If you can you are not going to buy something in WC that's for sure.

Okay folks tonight's the night...show up! If you don't want your property rights restricted or taken away...show up! Call your county commissioner and/or your planning commissioner...they need your input, not your complaints posted on topix. Rural Estates designation will restrict the life style we love. It will restrict the number of animals you will be allowed to have and possibly the size of your garden. Just what we need. Show up!!!

Have you tried? What was the topic, which meeting did you attend and who was it that didn't listen to you? Do you have a legitimate complaint to validate your gripe? I see a lot of complaints on here that are empty words. Quit complaining and do something...go to the meetings and workshops. Get involved...don't let anyone intimidate you. Show up and speak up or shut up.
