To say that the photographer is stealing is very childish. He is making an honest living. Blame the school for not having an alternative plan, but don't call honest people who have to travel to a job site, use his time and labor, his printing supplies, his paper, his talent and his patience. You people in Chipley are so very petty. Complain about the price of things associated with a seniors last year of high school, but yet you go out to eat, smoke, drink beer, take vacations, all the family members have cell phones, and the list goes on and on.

Will not be paying for this pictures. My kid will have to do without. This price is to expensive. Also, this is a want not a need. Times are hard and work is hard to come by. My money will not be spent on this luxury.

just get your friends / students together and everyone agree not to show up,the year book will be only 5-6 pages that will teach them, you don't need a yearbook to look up people any more with Facebook and google you can find just about anyone even a map to where they are living with satellite images.

Why don't you just cut your nose off to spite your face. Don't even think about trying to resolve this problem. Just cut the freaking nose off and continue to whine, whine, whine.

You must be one the rich folk in town. who puts down every poor soul in this town? You judge to quickly, and you shouldn't. There is a number of families that struggling to pay bills, to keep food on the table. Why should they spend their hard earned cash on expensive photos? How about the rich giving the poor some of their wealth?

I am not rich. I really have to watch my money, but I just know when these things are coming up. I save and plan. I do without for my children. Some of the folks you talk about are smokers, beer drinkers, and at least one family went to the beach for a four day weeked. Most of the "poor" families have cable t. v., drive more than one vehicle, and on and on. So don't tell me that I judge too quickly. You have known for quite sometime that you were going to have a senior in the family. Why did you know start preparing for that a year or two years ago. I paid for my senior's ring with coins tossed into a jug. Why should I, who lives prudently, give you any damn thing. Can't your senior babysit, clean a house, or do something to earn some money. People like you suck and suck and suck off of us that work hard. You want it all but are not willing to sacrafice.

Oh, by the way, I saw one of these complainers having her nails done the other day. Such a hard way to go......can't afford anything for her senior, but she can spend money on a nail job. Give me a break.

Today I received an appt time for my CHS senior to have senior pictures made. The sitting fee is $40 and is required to have a picture in the yearbook even if no other pictures are wanted/purchased. I talked with a friend and she said Cottondale High seniors were charged $20 last year. Is this fair? If someone cannot pay their child will not be in the yearbook. At what other grade is a child charged just for a proof? Ads and the purchase price pay for the yearbook. This guy is the same photographer who does class pictures so why is he charging a sitting fee?
I came from poor family of 10 children if it wouldnt for 1 person who was ahead of me in school who payed for everything my mom couldnt afford it I would have never even got a year book or my pic in it....I thank that person because it didnt make me feel so poor ....I felt like one of the others...so I know how you feel....and the school should come up with another plan for those who are less fortuate than others

I dont have any kids that are senoirs yet and if i did i could afford to pay the $40. However people need to understand that not everyone can , some hard working familys are just getting by, And they dont need to be screwed any harder by some asshole trying to charge that much for 5 minutes of his time. I dont give a damn if he has to drive a couple miles or purchase his camera that is armed robbery and you know it, especially with the economy the way it is and people out of work. The students shouldnt suffer because some asshole is trying to make a killing. You know damn well there are plenty of professional photographers who would do this for a reasonable rate. And why are we not using someone local to keep money in our community? We leave it up to the school to find someone who is suitable and affordable, Its not like the students have the opportunity to shop around, they have to use who they are told. I wonder how much of the $40 goes back to the school? It does not matter if people can afford to drink smoke or go on vacation, not everyone can and it is to expensive for a damn sitting fee, especially when it is something people are obligated to pay. Just because peope can afford to smoke drink and vacation do you think gas should be $20 a gallon?

glad your not my parent, why don't you get a second job so that your child can enjoy their senior year, they are only children once I would work 3 jobs if that's what it takes to take care of my child's needs and a few of her wants

It's called entitlement. They think they are entitled! A kid that will be a senior next year can get their own job and earn $40 IF they want their picture in the yearbook. Don't give me that crap that you cannot afford it. They can earn their own money and one day will be proud of themselves for doing it.

Are you stupid? Its not about giving up Cigs. its a ridiculous price for two minutes work.Even if everyone has the money to pay, It is still not rite to screw people.how about at prom time we tell anyone who wants to go that they have to buy our gas to get there and then charge $20 a gallon, and anyone who dont wat to pay we can just say stop smoking or eating out. The same cocksuckers that are for ripping off our seniors are probly sitting in church today reminding people how righteous they are. What a joke.

I have passed Chipley topix on to all my co workers and everyone on Facebook. Chipley is better than any sitcom. I would like to say in most real cities that the photographer will not charge a sitting fee per senior, but they know they will make it up in packages. If you rednecks want to pay, then pay. If you don't, vote on another photographer. Our parents have a choice. Why does your school board make that decision without your voice?

It did look like a minimum of $40 was due on the appointment postcard but this was not the case today. A student can have one or two shots taken, never see the proofs, and those will be sent to the school for the yearbook. Maybe parents complained or maybe this was a (secret) option all along.
