i have been driving truck for over 40 years and yes this is a bad thing that happened. but the child had the right of way. the truck did stop for the red light but he should have made sure the crosswalk was clear not just do a quick stop and go. you need to look more than once when driving a big truck. i drive a peterbilt longnose and i know you have to look very carefully. i also know that the person in the crosswalk has the right of way. the fact that know charges were made makes me wonder why not. i wonder if that truckdriver was from out of town would he get off?

I don't know the reason why no charges were filed either, but I do know that there isn't a painted walkway accross that section of that road, again why I don't know. This is an extremely horrible accident, but I also believe some of the goes both ways. If I am a pedestrian I never assume that the driver of that vehicle sees me until I make eye contact with that person, that way I know that they have seen me. A person should never assume that the person in that vehicle sees them.
