To those of you who have said the PARENT should be charged with NEGLECT need to get the actual story. YES she was out past curfew NO the mom should NOT be charged with NEGLECT as she did not know her daughter was OUT. The daughter snuck out when everyone was ASLEEP- thus her mom NOT KNOWING she was gone. Weren't YOU a 17 year old once?? Come on people - grow up and DO NOT judge others. Get the ENTIRE story. You people need to GROW UP, get a LIFE and not judge others.
What if her mom saw these comments? Get a clue people. Death of a loved one is hard as it is. IMagine if it was YOUR child.

People should know the facts before they speak ignorance. I know the mom and she is a damn good parent. No parent deserves to lose a child especially in this manner and people need to be more respectful of the situation. A person lost there life and people are questioning the motives. We were all young once and were out past curfew so why are people even going there. My prayers go out to the family and friends of Chanel. May god let her soul rest in peace

Ignorant people could care less about facts. Unfortunately these blogs don't have a filter to keep out ignorant, racist, stupid, rude, and hurtful comments. Regardless of the circumstances of this young girls passing I'm astounded that some people have the gall to suddenly become self-rightous and start judging after reading nothing but a headline. I wish these folks would just craw back under their rock and not come out anymore.

I really would like to add to all of you rude mindless idiots who didn't know the actual situation, the actual victim, her family and the full truth or whatever are completely out of your minds& seriously inconsiderate souls to be writing such terrible things about the situation, her parents and her &also saying that the parent's should be charged with CHILD NEGLECT!? You are noone to judge,Don't point fingers&make assumptions when your hands are not even clean.I find it so upsetting that all of you close minded people above me that have commented in such a disrespectful manner feel it necessary to do that.Teenagers will be teenagers,it was an accident..things like that happen!!! Come on folks,,Lets be real here and not focus on the negatives,You're all sending such terrible energy with your words-THROUGH THE COMPUTER SCREEN-!!
What is this world if we do not all stick together&have compasion for one another in time of stress, saddness and confusion? Instead of jumping to conclusions, thinking of the worst possiblites & straight being unkind by venting out your uncared for feelings in a rude way is just not right.LETS HAVE SOME HEART PEOPLE..&LET'S BE TRUE TO ONE ANOTHER!! To the family: i saw your daughter around school alot, talked to her a few times..she was wonderful girl, truely full of good vibes and sunshine. May she rest in peace &i'll keep you in my prayers.

best wishes to the family. you have been through a lot and i hope you are pulling through it. hope that everyone else who had something negative to say feels ashamed for putting blame where there needs to be none. have a heart and some type of compassion. this world needs more and you all are making it uglier with your disgusting hate. grow up and get out of your bubble chino hills.

I cant believe people are sitting here criticizing the way Chanel's parents raised her. This is horrible. Why can't you hope that she rests in peace and extend your arms out to those who are hurt by everything that happened.

Chanel was my friend and I have known her for about 6 years and now she's gone. She was a beautiful person and to search for the story of her accident and to scroll down to look at the comments that cruel and insensitive people have written is heartbreaking.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. This should be a lesson to not judge people because you never know who can be around and you never know what that can do. Rethink your comments and learn to have more feelings for tragic events like Chanel's accident.

As if losing a friend wasn't enough; these comments made everything worse to see how insensitive people can be toward a teenager that was just being a teenager. I am pretty sure all of you were out at 4 a.m. doing things you shouldn't have been doing and here you are judging Chanel and you have no idea what was going on.

Why in the heck is a 17 year-old out at 3:55 a.m.? Why is a 17 year-old in violation of curfew? Why does a 17 year-old need to be behind the wheel? Parents, parents parents... you just don't get it! I know life is easier when you pass on responsibility parents, but is it worth it?
The point is to inform people that a young life was lost. This girl had a future and potential. she had family friends and neighbors who loved her. I'm glad you were perfect as a teen, who always made the perfect decisions and did just as your parents said. How lucky for you! Could you write a book or something for the rest of us? A seventeen year old died. As a mother my heart breaks! It is hard to always know the right decision, the right thing to say. You do your best to give the right information and pray that they listen. This mother loved her daughter and gave all of herself to raise her right! The lesson is that life is not promised. Love peolpe while you have them. instead of jumping on your soap box, go call someone you love and celebrate the gift of life while you can. May God Bless your heart.

I knew Chanel when she was a baby I had known her fathers family while I was growing up. She never met her dad because he died before she was born but she will be with him now. I does not matter what she was doing out that late or how it happen it just happen let her be.

Charge Parents wrote:
Was about to say the exact same thing. UNLESS this girl was out for a legitimate reason (such as a summer night job working the closing shift) where she was authorized to drive past curfew, the parents should be charged for child neglect.

She was killed along side two other. One survivor. A 71 year old man driving a motorhome ran a red light. Killed her instantly. Her two friends died from injuries. Why was.this old man out at 3:30am. He killed them by hitting them at full speed. They were making a green arrow no drug no drinking. That is what happened.
