The Salisbury Mall is a disgrace and an embarrassment. I say bulldoze the whole piece of crap building and start fresh. Give us a Best Buy, a Kohls, and other stores actually worth setting foot in and spending money in.

I personally think that the mall is a great beginning but needs more popular stores to add to it. People are always there it needs like a Khols or popular store, id love a Ambercrombie,or something else in it..

The Mall was built on the wrong side of town to begin with. It should have been closer to the Interstate.

The Salisbury Mall is the only mall that I know of where you can stand on one end, look straight ahead and see the other end. The only somewhat decent store in the whole place is Goodys. And even their selection of merchandise is getting to be kind of pitiful. JCPenney is a joke (I know, I worked there for a month.)Belks is full of snobby brats who look at you funny if you don't look wealthy. There are no baby changing stations in either bathroom. The remodling they did is a joke. They put tile everywhere. Floors and walls. Which, by the way, started cracking and chipping the first month it was done. The whole thing looks ridiculous. Oh and Big Lots....That is one dirty, nasty looking store!! I AGREE! TEAR IT DOWN! We need a Sears, Best Buy, Maurices...which use to be in the Salisbury Mall years ago. FYE, And a better selection of places to eat while shopping at the mall!

If you don't like the Salisbury Mall, why do you keep going back? By the way, Statesville Mall is smaller than Salisbury's mall. I agree that it needs to include some different stores, but why would they work on it as long as everyone is dissing it.
p.s. Obviously you were not originally from Salisbury or you would understand that the mall was in the perfect place at the time it was built. Jake Alexander Blvd ended at the mall. Give them a break, get a job.

Get a life, JRg. Just because 99% of the Salisbury Mall is crap, doesn't mean there isn't that 1% that I would still go there for. Apparently those who planned the mall when it was first built did so in a very poor way, with no real thought as to Salisbury's growth or planning for growth for the mall itself. It should really be a 2 story mall. Give us a break, and give us a mall worth going to.

JRg, you're an idiot....They would work on it BECAUSE people are complaining. Do you think change comes about because people sit around with their thumbs up their asses? No, change comes about when enough people start complaining. Also, who here said they even shopped at the Salisbury Mall? It's true, the mall IS a joke, you don't have to be from Salisbury to see that no matter what you say, putting a mall at the end of Jake WAS stupid, IS stupid and always WILL BE STUPID. They would have gotten a heck of a lot more business if they were a NORMAL mall and off the Interstate. It all amounts to... LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!!

You're right about the shoddy location. Even when it was built, it was next door to a huge section 8 project. It is now sandwiched between two such projects, and is 2 miles from the interstate. It was the developer's wishful thinking at the time, "Build it, and they will come." When Wallace Commons opens off I-85 and Julian Road, Salisbury Mall can hang a wreath on its doors. And I don't mean the Yuletide kind of wreath, either.

Why bash each other...this gets nothing done!!! I'm from Albemarle and recently moved here. My only problem with the mall is the lack of baby stations (changing tables) in bathrooms. Albemarle doesn't even have a 'mall'!! just build on what is already there...change a few stores...maybe give it a face lift, but to be honest there is nothing wrong with the stores that are already there...just need to add stores to give the mall some variety. As far as the location, it's fine because in a few years or so that area will be built up like the other side. Just give it time. And arguing doesn't get anything done.

Salisbury mall sucs its true, The store only has about total of lik 3 ppl in it, im surprised it hasnt shut dwn i rather drive all the way to concord mills with $4 a gallon gas then drive to that load of crap.
And futhermore, yea lets diversify the mall b/c i swear HALF OF THE STORES ARE OWNED BY THE SAME IRANINAN FAMILY...but the mall will def be a ghost town when the new stores open on Juilian Rd. b/c i'll DEF be there!!

I lived in Salisbury NC for a couple years from 2004-2006. I have lived in Virginia, Alabama, South Carolina, and Washington D.C. Salisbury is hands down the worst place I have ever had the misfortune to reside. The town hasn't grown in the last decade. Taxes are too high, there is far too much low income housing for a town that has less than 30,000 residents. Rowan county is full of racist white trash and Salisbury and Spencer have uneducated gang bangers. The signs into Salisbury claim it is a "historic city". Really Salisbury is just old and a grungy looking gas stop off a forgotten exit(75) of I-85. The whole town needs a new identity and probably more likely a lobotomy.

Salisbury also has some of the worst drivers I've ever seen in my life. NOBODY knows what a turn signal is, and most like to drive so close to you that you'd need a proctologist to remove them.

As far as the mall, you have got to be kidding me. That is the shoddiest, poorest, most laughable excuse for a mall I've ever seen. Crappy trash stores from one end to the other. Trashy rednecks (and other losers of society) roaming its halls; not one single store worth the time to shop in; and a pathetic excuse for a food court. The place needs to be completely torched.

I can't believe there are so many people complaining about the location and would rather it be off the interstate. First of all, has anyone else noticed what a traffic mess it is to travel on East Innes since they put up the plaza across from Walmart and another series of what-nots on the other side. Secondly, do you want to see Interstate 85 at Jake or any other exit in Salisbury to be like the exit for Concord Mills. That spot is just an accident waiting to happen. Oh wait, one probably just did!

At least if the mall were located next to the highway, it may at least contain some stores that people actually shop in. The Salisbury Mall is full of GARBAGE stores that most people wouldn't shop at unless they were having an emergency. An extremely undersized JCPenney, too high-priced Belks, and a laughingstock of a weak "food court"......come on. People of Salisbury deserve better than that eyesore.

I've lived in Salisbury my whole life and the Salisbury Mall was built in a TERRIBLE location. Though I'll allow the plaza area near Walmart right off 85 is a huge mess, none of that would even BE there if they'd built the mall there to begin with. They should have placed it nearer the interstate to begin with, if they wanted any sort of popularity. The mall itself is a total piece of crap, there's no ifs, ands or buts about it. There are far too few stores there to really attract anyone, especially with Concord Mills looming a half-hour's drive away, and the entire place looks as if it's about to fall apart. As for my family, we never bother going there anymore; the selection is pathetic and it's not worth the gas money. Though it would undoubtedly save loads of money to just add onto it, I have to say that they're spending enough of our tax dollars on so-called "beautification" (my ass), they might as well go ahead and rebuild the whole mall while they're at it. A better layout could do a lot for the place, though the location will never be anywhere near decent.
As for Rob B, I would like to point out the irony of using the term 'racist white trash.' Proofread. Salisbury is actually a very historic city, unless you completely missed the copious signs in the years you resided here. I believe the point of this was the MALL, not the citizens. If you're so ignorant as to use that kind of blanket statement, good riddance.

Geez, people give 'em a break. All this anger over a mall. Just trash George Bush a while and that will make you feel better. Blame the mall on George Bush. It is all his fault.
