A public building is defined as everything from apartment building lobbies and common hallways to nursing homes to private residences being used for child care, adult day care or health care. Outdoor theaters and sports arena seating are also considered public spaces and fall under the ban.

oh well so much for doing any business there.....I bet ya if they have a convention hall it just went bankrupt along with the rest of the businesses in town..........

The people have spoken. Middleton residents over whelmingly supported a smoking ban by a margin of 5 to 1. Stay tuned, many more smokefree victories are on the way!

Typical ANTI can't get the facts straight. City counsel voted 5 to 1 that is a far cry from the people voting 5 to 1. But I suppose all of those bodies from the ETS exposure are buried in Iraq right next to the weapons of mass destruction.

It really does. EVERY DAY there are new smoking bans. Todays included beaches and parks. It looks like SF will ban tobacco sales in pharmacies. Smoking is increasingly banned in cars with kids.

Smokers are selfish addicts who do not give a damn about anybody else, but no one is listening any more.

The bans are a dismal failure, they are failing everywhere they have been enacted, but anti's are too stupid to see it. In the end they will be run out of town on a rail just like every other ban in history and the proponents will look like the fools that they are. Only fools don't learn from history!

What I said is the PEOPLE supported a smokefree ban. This was done through door to door petition drives and takking to people. Isn't it nict to know that no matter who wins the presidental elections this fall, we'll have a president who supports smoking bans?

Same one he's still sniffing the left coast fumes, he still tells the fairy tale on how well the ban works.
http://banthebanwisconsin.wordpress.com/2008/...

And in any argument the first thing out of his mouth is tobacco funded.

the bans are a dismal failure, everywhere they have been enacted. The anti-smoking groups are told by their own people to keep up the media blitz or public sentiment will fast turn against them.....they have to do damage control everytime retail sales numbers come out or revenue drops........its not just the bans that affect economic times, but when you add in ban damage along with other contributing factors that arent govmnt induced or artifically created. The fastest shot in the arm to improve local and statewide economies is to repeal smoking bans.gov mnt created economic loss with bans and govmnt can fix that with one signature from the govenor.

And this means what? Oh, that we're a democracy and have to bend the majority?

Wrong.

We're not a democracy, and I'm sick to death of people forgetting that and misconstruing the idea. Our country was built to protect people from majority (mob) rule. Laws and regulations were never supposed to be allowed to be put into place at the whim of the majority. If that were the case, the spirit of the foundation of this country wouldn't have been one of individual rights; rather it would have been based on mob rights and majority rule. Instead we had protection built in to shelter the minority populations from being overrun or harmed by others.

Smoking bans are an egregious violation of this concept as they rely completely on mob rule and coercion through the spread of pro-majority propaganda.

I will assume from your words and from your tone (and the fact that you're in madison) that you know nothing about history, so I'm not going to challenge your narrow scope of the world, but suffice to say that majority rule and manipulation through mass hysteria has been used to do some pretty nasty things over the years. Yet, here you are, preaching from your little soapbox in madison as if you know best.

Well, Jeff, you can stay in madison and have your miserable little home (and yes, I say miserable because every time I go to madison I am amazed that nobody smiles or looks at all content in life)... Just leave the rest of Wisconsin alone. We don't want you or your kind. You're a traitor to your own state, and as far as I am concerned, a traitor to the spirit of this country.

I would recommend that you do something useful with your life for a change, but I suspect that you already firmly believe that the world does in fact revolve around you and that you're such an asset to society that the thought of us functioning without you seems like a sick joke.

So, whatever. Enjoy life with your head up your ass. I prefer the light of day myself.
